Looking for some help with pairing replacment cluster with original ecu on the desk the original cluster is dead and the B6 is not accessable at the moment. I am doing this with rosstech on the desk by loging into the cluster 01668 adaptions read channel 50 enter in ecu SKC 03781 test and save. Orignalliy i supplied direct power with no switch (killing all power to both ecu and clust. thinking on this made me come to the conclusion that there had to be a constain hot wire to both cluster and ecu so thus me adding the switch. for some reason im still not having luck and i feel as if its to maybe yet do with constant power to the cluster? when i turn the switch (accessories) off the cluster still kills power and the clock doesnt stay on as i think is should? so im thinking theres another constant that need to be wired. if anyone can help or tell me the addresses inside the 95040 to change that i believe should work to. any help appreciated!

- CLUSTER -
SKC - 01668
Yellow Switch - Green Pin 3
Red 12v + Always - Green Pin 2
Ground Black - Green Pins 19, 20
Kline - Green Pin 23
Key Antenna - Pin Blue 30, 31

- ECU -
SKC - 03781
Yellow Switch - Pin 21
Red 12v + Always - Pin 62, 3
Ground Black - Pin 1, 2

When making changes to theeprom and writing back in new mode it doesnt take and the speedometer needles turns up and the little lcds are blank. flash encrypted .bin back and works as normal. where i go go frome here?

Depends what your trying to do. Are you trying to transfer data from one to the other? Best way would be to read eeprom from original dash or adapt with the car present using VCDS. Very easy if you have both pins. If original cluster is dead disassemble and read 24C08 eeprom and post the data here. You should be able to adapt on the bench if you have a working key that was working with the original dash.

Your pinout are accurate. No other wires are needed. Just make sure you have constant power on pin 2 on cluster and constant grounds. Pin3 is ignition make sure you can cycle it.

Yes I have posted the 950-40 file from the ECU as well as the replacement eprom and immo information from the replacement cluster. Unfortunately the original is not available so I am just trying to adapt these on the desk I will look over the cluster pin outs as you say but for some reason it seems to now be pairing. I have the SKC for both cluster and ECU but can't seem to get them to adapt

i have checked over my pins and yes everything is correct to what your saying but i still can not seem to pair the cluster and ecu. pin 2 is constant 12v, pin 3 is switch/ignition, pins 19 & 20 is ground. logging into the cluster using the skc cannel 60 change to ecu skc and ignition off for 1 minute. i can not get it to pair? there has to be something more

Correct there is more:
1 immo ring
2 black and green wires from immo ring to cluster harness
3 Can high and Can low wires the orange and white ones (may not be needed)

all the above needs to be in the rig

Some early(2001-2002) RB4 clusters can't be adapted to new (2003-2004)ones, and vice versia. They don't want to accept that SKC pin
Check that also

That is for 4.2 engine? Or 3.0?

Can wires not needed at all everything can be done with just kline hooked up to ecm and cluster. In order to adapt you must have 2 out of 3 matching items. That being said you need the key reader hooked up to the cluster. IIRC just 2 pins for the reader. Then you need to have ecm and a matching key for that ecm. In order to adapt you must have 2 out of 3 times that match. So ecm and key and your good. IF not I can virginize cluster. But I would need to have the cluster physically to do it. Then you only adapt using original pin from vehicle.

First year of rb4 in usa was 2002. I never ran into a RB4 that wouldnt adapt via pin. Unless it had other issues like low battery voltage. But I also get them to adapt whether it be in the car or on the bench.

This normally mean crypto mask and ecnrypted data is damaged or checksum is not corrected. I would not make the changes using eeprom editor.I would use SKC pin easiest and faster.
