Hello
I am new to this forum and  i will be very pleased if somebody can help me with this issue.
I have a secondhand ECU  and I want to use it in my car. I went to the stealer and they informed me that they cannot owerwrite the data in a secondhand ECU. It has something to do with the immobilizer code.
Is it possible to erase/flash all the informations stored so that the box is "empty" and can be reflashed?
And what tool can be used. I am thinking about Galetto or
KWP 2000.
The ECU is a Bosch ME7 part no.0261206828.
Thank you in advance

Hi,

I think that is possible. But we need to get things straight as of for what car this ecu is meanth. Your ecunumber (0261206828) seems a number for a volvo. Is this correct ?

Ifso, what volvo would you like it to be for ? And what's now the software in it ? (for which
volvo was it originally programmed). I have such a ecu laying about, but messed up the flashrom, sadly. Perhaps we can both help eachother out a bit. What kinda tools do you
have already to read-out ? There are tools that do these boxes (flashrom) via K-line.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Cheers,

Thanks for your reply.
Yes it is a Volvo ECU. My car is a V70 2001 B5244T3. I got a spare ECU from a breaker to have it remapped in Sweden. The spare has been taken from a T5 (B5234T3).
I do not have any flash tools yet as this is what i am also looking for and i will only do it whith the ECU removed from the car.
It seems that all the information around is only for VAG cars.
Cheers
Michael

Only way to flash Volvo ECU's is to do boot mode.

In order to flash via CAN buss, the ECU must be CAN diagnosics capable. Otherwise, the flash is via K line. CAN diagnostics was not implimented prior to MY 2004 AFAIK.
