Title: Requested boost too high
Post by: pieje on September 16, 2013, 07:18:31 AM
For some reason my requested boost/load is higher then i want it to be.
At 3000rpm, i'm asking (via ldrxn) for about 1 bar, but it requests 1.2.
Same story at 6000rpm, i want 1.1 but it requests 1.2~1.3.
This is on a z20let opel engine running me1.5.5, something is correcting it but i don't know what...
Any ideas?

190 load is about 1.2 bar of boost.

If you want 1 bar, try around 170 load.

To make sure, log requested load.

In the attached excel file you can see my requested boost which is higher then i want, but don't know why...
Should be around 1 bar at 3000-3500 rpm, but requested goes up to 1.3?

To make sure, log requested load.

This is a terrible approximation without knowing his altitude-lol

190 load at 10000 feet is probably closer to 25psi.

OP:

There are lots of correction maps that affect requested load. We need full csv logs to see what's going on.

Stop guessing and log requested load.

Try to change KFLDHBN to 2.10, where you want 1.1 bar.

I attached a full log, trouble is this no VAG engine, this is done with Opcom which only gives you relative load, no requested load...
Don't really want to change KFLDHBN, as then i lose headroom for when i go the alps, btw i'm at sea level now.
What tables influence requested after LDRXN? KFLDHBN, KFTARX...
Funny thing is it also goes over the limit of KFMIRL, not just LDRXN.
I need a FK for the me1.5.5, anybody has this?

Never touched M1.5.5, but my guess is the load<=>pressure convertion is diferent from ME7 (makes sense since its another ECU family)

Try Lowering KFMIRL and LDRXM a lot to see what happens...

I think the conversion is the same (170=1 bar) because when i load the standard ldrxn it follows it pretty good and boost is whatt it needs to be.
If you up the boost for some reason it doesn't follow ldrxn between 2500-3500, after that it is more or less ok.

I think you may be experiencing the boost spike that seems to happen with the k03/k04/"small" turbos. I don't know if it's the right way, but you could try lowering the values in KFLDRL for that rpm range and see what happens.

I would lower IMX.

Also there is no conversion from load to boost - it heavily depends on the IAT.
There is a big difference if it is -20C or +40C outside.

what is your IAT?
what is knock event?
what is IOP settings?
what is your altitude?

there are too many parameters behind IRL and LDRXNs

Lowering IMX or DRL will lower actual boost but not requested, i believe. I don't want to do it that way, i need to know why requested is too high. Lowering LDRXN helps offcourse, but  something is messing with it.

IAT after intercooler is between 20 and 50°C, no knock events ( see log), IOP is standard and i'm at sealevel.

So you didn´t explain it correctly before  :D ... you are having spikes, theres a plenty of things that can make it happen, one of these things for example could be when ECU cant´reach spec load in lower RPM.

How do you know it is too high for the given requested load?

I don't :D and opcom can't log it, so i'll never know for sure.
But i see your point, i'm requesting x load and the ecu will do what's needed to get there, via a/f, timing, throttle and not only boost.
Anyway i've been playing around today and it's now pretty smooth, i made small changes to IRL, IOP and LDRXN and it seems to be good! ;D
