Title: mk4 VR6 12v AFP auto to 5spd swap ecu flash question
Post by: B5in on February 18, 2018, 04:18:38 PM
I have a 2001 12v VR6 Jetta that was tiptronic but has been swapped to a 5spd manual trans.

my ecu is 021906018S and I am trying to flash my ecu to a manual file 021906018M...only problem is this:

021906018M = 512kb bin file size

021906018S = 1,024kb bin file size

can I flash a 512kb file to a ecu with that originally has a 1,024kb file?

Did you open the ecu to see what chip the ecu has? I bet you used the wrong memory layout to read the file or clone mpps did a read twice.

I haven't popped it open yet but I used 29F800BB, is that the correct one or should I have used 400BB, it's ME7.1?

Split the 1mb file you read in half using a hex editor.
