Post by: Vdub-dub on September 27, 2014, 04:47:44 AM
From bettle 2000 I can't seem to read the 24c02 chip with my willem programmer, what are people using to read it?

Remove chip. Read it that way. I use GQ-4x.

Oh so no other way?
With 95040 chip using test clip with willem I can read/write
I hate soldering lol

Desoldering is the most reliable way. Other methods are/can be hit or miss.

24C02 and other I2C similar serial eeproms are really tricky to read or write in circuit (ICSP). The main problem is it master-slave configuration and it bus timing associated for read and writing procedures. The best result until now, is desolder, work on it and re-solder.

with clip you may read it 10  times and you will get at least 3 different versions.... :D

I'm reading and writing a 24c02 in circuit in an Alfa Romeo Bosch M2.10.x ECUs, using a Willem eprom without any problems. I guess it depends on the electronic design whether you can read it in circuit or not.

In my M3.2 ecu I was not able to read on the board, unsoldering did the trick. Also with Willem programmer.

Inclusive I tried shorting processor xtal without luck. I think that problem in M3xx/M59x boards is timing.

I tried to use the car prog to read it in on the board I also tried probing it using a willem programmer. I didn't have success so I removed it and tried to read. Not having luck yet.
( Having problems with posting this)
