Title: Problems connecting Post by: littco on February 25, 2011, 05:34:56 AM Am I doing something wrong. Here's a copy of the log. I just can't get it to read the flash, seems to connect ok, in slow and fast init with the ignition off. then the problems start.
It's on an Audi s3 1999: tried all the memory layouts and a new battery with a charging pack on it as well just in case. part 1 of the log 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.061: USER: Switching to KWP2000 session. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.113: LOG: Opened FTDI device. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.114: LOG: FTDI device info - Description: USB <-> Serial Serial Number: Device Type: FT_DEVICE_BM Device ID: 0x4036001 Device Flags: 0x0 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.114: LOG: FTDI ChipID DLL is loaded, checking chip ID... 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.115: LOG: Unable to read FTDI device chip ID 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.163: LOG: Starting send receive thread. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.164: LOG: Send receive thread now started. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.167: USER: Disconnected 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.191: USER: Connection attempt number 1. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.201: USER: Connecting... 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.216: USER: Starting slow init connection. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:39.523: USER: Connecting to address 0x01. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:41.684: USER: Slow init succeeded. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:41.689: USER: Switching to KWP1281 session. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:41.853: LOG: KWP1281 read block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:41.918: LOG: KWP1281 sent block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.251: LOG: KWP1281 read block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.315: LOG: KWP1281 sent block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.492: LOG: KWP1281 read block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.555: LOG: KWP1281 sent block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.702: LOG: KWP1281 read block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.765: LOG: KWP1281 sent block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.802: LOG: KWP1281 read block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.865: LOG: KWP1281 sent block 25/Feb/2011 11:09:42.867: USER: KWP1281 connect info: 8L0906018K 1.8L R4/5VT G 0003 +?? 25/Feb/2011 11:09:44.370: USER: Connecting to address 0x01. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:46.531: USER: Slow init succeeded. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:46.544: USER: Switching to KWP2000 session. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:46.857: LOG: Sent message with service ID StartCommunication 25/Feb/2011 11:09:46.893: LOG: Received message with service ID NegativeResponse 25/Feb/2011 11:09:46.894: LOG: Received negative response for service ID: StartCommunication, with response code: ServiceNotSupported 25/Feb/2011 11:09:46.895: USER: Connected 25/Feb/2011 11:09:49.422: LOG: Sent message with service ID TesterPresent 25/Feb/2011 11:09:49.461: LOG: Received message with service ID TesterPresentPositiveReponse 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.824: USER: Disabling Windows sleep mode. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.828: USER: Reading ECU flash memory. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.841: USER: Reading ECU identification option: calibrationEquipmentSoftwareNumber 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.862: LOG: Sent message with service ID ReadECUIdentification 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.904: LOG: Received message with service ID ReadECUIdentificationPositiveResponse 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.907: USER: Read ECU identification option with unknown scaling record. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.913: USER: Successfully read ECU identification information 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.920: USER: ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.925: USER: Requesting security access. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:51.984: LOG: Sent message with service ID SecurityAccess 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.022: LOG: Received message with service ID NegativeResponse 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.024: LOG: Received negative response for service ID: SecurityAccess, with response code: ServiceNotSupported 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.025: USER: ECU reports that security access is not supported. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.030: LOG: Starting diagnostic session type: ProgrammingSession 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.032: USER: Starting diagnostic session. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.108: LOG: Sent message with service ID StartDiagnosticSession 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.152: LOG: Received message with service ID NegativeResponse 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.153: LOG: Received negative response for service ID: StartDiagnosticSession, with response code: GeneralReject 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.154: USER: Failed to start diagnostic session. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.156: USER: Received negative message response with code: GeneralReject 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.162: USER: 100% complete. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:52.166: USER: Reading ECU flash memory failed. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:53.267: USER: Restoring Windows sleep mode. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:54.671: LOG: Sent message with service ID TesterPresent 25/Feb/2011 11:09:54.707: LOG: Received message with service ID TesterPresentPositiveReponse 25/Feb/2011 11:09:58.035: LOG: Failed to read data from FTDI device. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:58.042: LOG: Clearing 1 bytes from receive buffer, because P1 max response inter byte time expired. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:59.408: USER: Disabling Windows sleep mode. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:59.414: USER: Reading ECU flash memory. 25/Feb/2011 11:09:59.424: USER: Reading ECU identification option: calibrationEquipmentSoftwareNumber 25/Feb/2011 11:09:59.447: LOG: Sent message with service ID ReadECUIdentification 25/Feb/2011 11:09:59.503: LOG: Resending message. I assume it is possible that the 1999 A3 does not support programming over the KWP2000 protocol. I know that KWP2000 programming support wasn't supported on many Audis until 2000.
