Post by: Mo Arif on September 08, 2014, 01:13:04 PM
...on a Bosch Me 3.8.3 ECU, i've researched a bit and getting mixed answers, some say no you can't it will fry, has to be de-soldered yet others say you can if you give a particular pin a 12v or Ground? please can someone confirm this.

 :)

Anyone? I'm able to de-solder the chip and replace it; but i heard it's possible to so without removing the chip.

I tried powering the ecu, then writing in circuit. It failed both times I attempted it.

Now I just remove the eeprom.

I have also had no sucess doing it on the board.
Just remove.

I even tried shorting the crystal oscillator, but I did nothing.

According to some VAG documents is should be possible to read it through OBD port.
