Hi guys,

My speedometer decided to die on me so i replaced it and managed to code it fine to my audi a3 2001.

The mileage on the new speedo was double my mileage :/ so i tried to adjust it with Vag Tacho 3.0.1 but it didnt work and now the mileage is stuck on 999999, is there any way to repair this?

I got access to VCDS cable and Vag tacho cable

Yes, flash the eeprom on the cluster with the vag tacho program. Plug the old cluster back in and read the eeprom, then save it. Then put the new cluster in the car and flash the eeprom with the saved file. The mileage, transponders, and coding is transferred over!

good luck

Vagtacho (i think especially old versions) dont read complete range and only change two mileage strings. But there is another short checksum in other memory range. So if you dont change it too you will get 999999km result. If you didnt drive yet write back your backup and you will have old value. Driving 1km will not fix it! Anyway there is nothing really broken, it´s enough to change mileage with other good tool or read processor by direct connection and use mileage calculator. These M73 dont have external eeprom, you have to read MC68HC912DG128  Wink

ive bricked MM clusters with genuine VT before trying to edit mileage.
had to use carprog direct to mcu to repair.
