Hi, I would tune an euro S4 with full RS4 setup, but i'm afraid the stock ecu isn't Ok for good job...

Can you tell me what number of ecu is 100% Ok for replace this prehistoric ecu and is OK to flash over OBD?

I've already tuned S4 with C box (512kb) but no way with OBD (with magpro tool or mpps) only with bootmode... ok for a basic remap but for a st3  Undecided too long procedure!!!

Is a D box (1mb?) full compatible and OBD flash ok? Or does I use any 8D0907551x for this job? No hardware issue, or does I flash any 1mb ecu with a dump from D box?

Thank for your help.

Would need to check pinouts.

But regardless if 551C or 551D, you will not be able to flash it over OBD in this car I think.
The problem in it, is the cluster. It will just randomly hang up a KWP2000 session after 30 seconds or so.

So regardless of what you do, you need to bypass the cluster and run a direct K-Line to the OBD connector.

So, what is the best choice (the easyest way!)? Find K line from cluster harness and install a switch for cut the line when obd flash?

Or better to find the k line from harness ecu and connect this with séparate power line to spécific cable ?

I think you need a switch, because the cluster will pull the K-Line low otherwise.
I might be wrong though on this.

And I think the K-Line is connected through the cluster to the ECU.
The cluster uses the K-Line between itself and the ECU as a so called "W-Line" to transmit immo info.

At least that is how it works in previous ECU's, I have not looked exactly at 2.7TT.

Yea, the K-line does pass through the clocks.  But I have tools that flash it over OBD no problem.  Nef won't do it though, but then Nef won't do C's full stop sadly.

Curious which tools and at which baud rate.
At least ME7Logger will not work with this dash and I tried all sorts of baud rates. Nor do any tools that communicate with this ECU the same way as with the newer ones.
Same issue, KWP2000 session gets shut some time into the flash.

Genuine MPPS, Magpro 5.5 does it, it uses a different method.  It tries to connect, says mode not supported, asks to cycle the ignition and then connects.

Ok, I guess it manages to tell the cluster to shut up properly through a special sort of init.
Means that to log it, I would still have to write my own data logger though.
