Title: ECUx logging - what cable?
Post by: vtraudt on March 02, 2012, 06:57:56 AM
What cable works better with ECUx? Original (intelligent) VAGcom, or blue ebay?

I could never get my vag-com cable to work, two different blues worked just fine.

Had the VAGcom connected, so tried. Worked fine.

Just still having issues with getting decent logs for my Allroad tiptronic. Found the matching properties file, but don't seem to have  the right group file.

some of the numbers look weird.

Can someone upload some working tiptronic group files?

Make your own group file. A group file is only a list of things you want to log.

Can not seem to get my vag com cable to work.  Still gotta play around with it some more.  Anyone have tips to using vag com cables with ecux?

I seem to remember getting it working by unchecking "boot in intelligent mode" in the VCDS settings.  In ECUx in the settings change the bit rate(baud) to 56000(I think this was the correct setting).  On windows 7 x64 this resulted in ECUx logging but having lots of delay.  I would rev the engine and see ECUx respond seconds later.  On Windows XP it works much better.  May be a program that just needs XP.  I think I have heard of success with running it from an XP virtual machine as well.  The blue ebay cables worked better in either case.  Not to mention that ME7logger seems to work better than ECUx and is free!  Stick with ME7logger unless there is some reason not to.
