Hello, I'm just a random person trying to fix her own car, an AUDI A4 2003 1.8T Quattro (immo3)

I took my car with my mechanic and he screwed 3 different instrument clusters using VagDASH (ended up with "def error", and not even lighting up), and I just bought the fourth one from the yunkyard, and this one hasn't been touched yet. So I tried to do it by myself this time, I've been reading about procedures for doing this for like two months (yes, my car's instrument cluster is been jacked up since then), bought the dumb KKL cable, and I also have vcds lite.

Right now I have immo off so I can drive it, the first (original) dashboard is all bricked too Angry my mechanic overwrote the .bin file with a bad file (from other cluster -- sigh).

I have the old cluster pin and new cluster pin (4 digit ones), so I tried to do it through adaptation using VCDS lite, doing the following:

- Opened the instruments section
- Clicked login -- typed new cluster's pin
- Clicked adaptation
- Typed channel 50
- Typed down the original cluster's pin
- Clicked Test and Save

... and after that I get a "Error Channel 50 not available".

I  tried doing this while immo was turned on (using vag dash too), but no luck.
Any ideas or help would be very appreciated!

Thank you!  Grin

I tried to connect the original cluster (I only knew it was bricked) to check soft coding numbers, and it did a terrible unstoppable beep once I connected it, and both clock and mileage screen said Error, I immediately disconected it and put back the used one, which was ok, I only had to wait 5 mins for the hazards to turn off (immobilizer), but now for some reason it's showing the following errors, and says I've no coolant, gas, oil  Huh

Might the other faulty cluster have damaged some fuses or ECU itself when I connected it?

I also attached the errors I was having with VCDS lite.

Stick with the procedure you did in your first post.

Only add this step and see if it helps.
-Turn the immo on. This is a must.
-install the new cluster
-go into the "can gateway" and go to recode or coding.
-re-type the coding. actually erase and re-type it in and press do it, done go back.
and then try your procedure listed above.

Thanks for the advice f1torrents, I actually tried going into the "can gateway" but I don't think my car supports it, I got a "controle module not found" or something like that when I tried it.

Also quoting Ross Tech's wiki:
Quote
Immo 3 Audi vehicles typically use adaptation channels 060, 061 and 062 for the internal installation list since they do not have address 19-CAN Gateway. If in question, run a complete Adaptation Control Module Map with the old module installed.

But after connecting the faulty cluster (original one) looks like it blocked some communications, the weird part is that I didn't even try remapping or reading the faulty one, just disconnected it after 10 seconds of loud beeping Sad and after that the new one showed the errors I posted above. (I cleared the codes and disconnected the battery several times)

But I will try saving the soft coding values in channel 60 after going into 17 - Instruments > Recode.
