Any ideas? Me7.5. Ecu bricked after a bad flash with nefmoto. I have tried galletto with bootmode but it just won't connect. Using a 2.2k on pin 21 and a 5k resistor on boot pin connected to ground. Galletto just says it's unable to connect. Happy to remove the 29f800 chip but just wondered if I had missed something.

if you have a benchflash-harness, try to do a vagcom-diagnose. If it responds, you can flash the unit. Ifnot, rewrite firstly the eeprom with a virgin dump (95040) and then try again with galletto. you only have to keep the bootpin on the flashrom connected for 2 seconds max to enter bootmore, and then release the temp ground, and galletto will flash it correctly. Most people leave it in boot-mode-triggering-modus, and then galletto cannot connect...

Red circles are the pads to use.

Green V = 1-2 sec connection with a v-shaped staple
Green line = alternative 1-2 sec connection with a wire.

The connection must be made just before the ecu is powered
up. Keep it bridged, and power the ecu up, while counting to 2.
Then undo the temp-bridge and the ecu is in bootmode. No
additional resistors needed. Done a few with galletto 1260 this way
and all are still in perfect shape.

Thanks PVL. Are you saying no 5.5k resistor needed on the bootmode pin? Ie a wire direct ground to bootpin?

For the record, I spent a lot of my time pulling my hair out getting my ME7.5 into boot mode.  I was testing this by performing a Galletto read each time after I attempted boot mode.  I finally just tried to write the intended flash instead of performing a read as a test, and the write succeeded without a hitch.  I still have never gotten a "read" from Galletto.  But I really only need it to "write" to a bricked ECU anyway.

My boot-mode method was 5 seconds on the boot pin to the ground of my power supply.  Although I'm inclined to try the method described above next time.

Yes. Only while ECU is being powered up. Then remove it.

I never used them on these 1.8T ecu's. And it always gave me good results on a
P4-WinXP-SP3 machine with galletto 1260 clone, plus the correctly chosen bootmode (400/800 flashrom). Works like a charm.

It's just 1-2 seconds that the bridgewire needs to be applied. No more. Only dureing
power-up of the ecu (ignition-on).

Success....

So after to much time trying with 5.5k resistors I finally managed to get my ECU into Bootmode and load on the file.

Just for reference I found that using the single wire from the metal ground around the ecu to pin24 worked. Using the V pin across the 2 pads didn't.

So a big thank you too all, who offered advice etc.. Another ECU saved from being bricked!!!

I've been having the same issues with a couple me7.5 ecu's on the bench... I have yet to get boot mode with one...  This gives me hope though.   I'll fiddle around a little more with it to see if i'm just being dumb.

I did also have a 2.2k resistor on pin 21 as well. Not sure if this made a difference or not but it worked with it ok.

Could Pvl kindly advise how to know that ECU now is in boot-mode-triggering-modus? More in detail with description? I always get "boot mode inactive".

The ECU has been into bootmode successfully. The problem is my problem cable of Galletto 1260. When I used a new Galletto 1260 cable, it worked smoothly.
