Title: 16490 - Manifold / Barometric Pressure Sensor (G71) / (F96)
Post by: 4biddna4 on September 18, 2013, 11:03:27 AM
VCDS Version: Release 11.11.6

                Address 01: Engine       Labels: 078-907-551-AZA.lbl
I have a 02 b6 a4 which I swapped an APB 2.7t with a AWE/GIAC stg 3 ecu into. I have all supporting mods and it came from my b5s4 which was in perfect running order with zero issues or codes. I re-pinned everything to work with the B6 body harness and started the car. Everything worked as it should the first two days then all of a sudden while the car was idling it began to sputter and shut off. Now it will only run if I disconnect the Hitachi MAF and Bosch MAP sensor. I have replaced both with new units and the problem still occurs. When I vag the car the below code shows up and if I try to erase, it returns immediately. Anyone have an idea of what could be causing this. I have checked the wiring over and over and everything appears to be o.k. I am running out of ideas and I do not want to drive the car in LIMP mode. There are no boost or vacuum leaks as I've used a boost leak tester to verify.

Sounds like you need to change the ECU or get it fixed.

Barometric sensor is inside ecu champ :)

I may be able to repair it  :-[

Ok I failed to mention this happned to both the mbox stg 3 ecu and the spare stock mbox ecu I have.

If you can repair this that would be great....care to pm or email me and discuss further details? Also how does this happen? What causes the barometric sensor to fail inside the ecu?

Who knows WHY it failed, I've never seen it happen before. all I know is I can replace it, and I have a pile of dead ecu's I can harvest parts from.

Worst case, your dead ecu is dead-er.

Email me, my address is in my sig.

So after investigating sensor by sensor with a volt meter, I discovered it was a bad camshaft position sensor shorting to plus which caused a drop in voltage across the ecu terminal (2.5v) thus creating the implausible signal by the barometric pressure sensor. Replaced it and problem solved. :)

Hi,

My mate has this error in a purchased tuned S4 ecu.
Does anybody know if this is maybe softwarerelated?
Where is the Sensor on the 551C ECU Board?

Thx
