Hi all, I am wondering where I should look at when I want to buy a used KTAG unit.

Why:
- Because I want to fix a MED9.1.2 ECU out of an Audi RS3 2011. Want to get it back to stock after it seemed to be tuned. Now flash and MPC aren't matched.
- Also I'd like to work at older ECU's as hobby.
- I own a (new) Autotuner unit, which unfortunately bricked this MED9.1.2 unit.

Details about KTAG I am looking at:
- It is a slave, but master is/will be released
- This unit had subscriptions until september 2019
- Unit is about 4 years old
- It has all adapters included
- Also alientech bdm frame with it

Questions:
- Is it safe to buy a unit which has ended subscriptions?
- Is the hardware of a 4 years old KTAG the same as a new one?
- Where should I look after?

First thing first....


-How Much for the used Ktag.

-What Protokolls are in the KTag

-Did he send you the ID oft the device or a screenshot

- How long out of subs?

- you will maybe get no Ori file from Support if you are out of subs.

- as long you are out of subs you can use Protokolls till the subs was ended so newer Cars or Protokolls are not supported.

You will not be able to fix your ecu with this slave unit unless you will link it to another master.

write directly to alientech with the serial number of the unit to get the numbers.
subscription can be expensive if its long time without active sub. changing the master will cost you also.

Wow, cool, so many good info. Here my answers:

How Much for the used Ktag.
=> €1250,- but hope to get some "discount".
Including Alientech BDM frame, All adapters.
From first owner, he is able to sell including invoice.

=> Don't understand exactly. Support from Alientech? I'm a Autotuner slave user. Would try to connect KTAG slave to same master as my AT.

- Can i link it by myself? Or should the master do this?
- I could ask for the serial number of the unit at Alientech. I already emailed them couple of days ago, but no answers until now.
- How much for changing the master? Didn't know, so thanks!

I also have a KTAG clone laying around. Couldn't read this MED9.1.2, but maybe I can change this KTAG unit in order to read the MED9.1.2? Probably the Trasdata upgrade hack? Or rework the unit?

It is a KTAG

you can not link it to yourself but you can possibly upgrade the unit to master but this is very expensive.

when your clone did not read the unit then you did something wrong

Sorry, didn't mean linking to myself, but can I do this? Or should the new master do this?

And I seemed this rare MED9.1.2 RS3 ECU couldn't be read by KTAG clone. At least I tried many times and always got Communcation error. Do you have tips for me? More Voltage? Special BDM adapter?

Good Price if all Cabels and also the Frame is included .... remember IF you are out of subs you will pay the yeahr 2019 and 2020 for Activision your out of Sub Problem, so every Yeahr 600€ for upgrading your subs

try with a cheap med9 at first, edc16 will work too

better start a new thread if clone talk is allowed in here, idk
