Title: made a 8E0910560D Definition file/questions about it's origins
Post by: mister t on March 16, 2016, 03:40:54 AM
So I happened to come across a 560D varient of the B6/B7 S4 ECU family and I have to say that it's a strange ECU.

Most of the other varieties like the 560A are fairly close with some slight differences. However, most of the calibrations are fundamentally the same.

This one seems to be way different though. For example, all the knock sensor calibrations are completely different. As are areas like KFMIRL/KFMOIP, KFZW, and some of the cam phasing.

I stayed up waaaay too late transferring all my maps from my 560G file, but in any event, I've made a working definition file for it that I'll post up for anyone who's interested.

***What vehicle uses this ECU? I've seen some indication that it may be a Euro model, but even so, why on earth is it calibrated so differently?***

***EDIT, CORRECTED THE RPM AXIS ON THE KNOCK RECOGNITION MAPS IN V2 .kp***

So, anyone have any idea what model of S4 used the 560D ECU?

Also, what I did was take the 560D binary and inserted the values from my 560G. That way, you can take the two binaries, plug them into winOLS (or Tunerpro, but you won't have the map pack to tell you what map the differences are in) and see the differences between the two files.

What I find interesting are the timing, KFMIRL and KFMIOP tables.

Ignition timing is way more advanced in all but the WOT 90-100% load areas.

KFMIRL is decreased, but the decrease is an even percent across the top load area, odd as as I can't see an OEM calibration using a straight percentage drop. Most OEM calibrations are more specific and the changes are rarely the same percentage across the board.

KFMOIP is increased from about 50% upwards. Like KFMIRL, the changes are even percentages (albeit 3 different percentages).

Anyone care to comment?

I simply googled the part number.

AUDI (EU) A4/S4 (BBK)

It's a euro file. They are often very different in terms of calibration.

Lol, as I mentioned in the first post, I figured that much out.

Just trying to figure out why it would be so drastically recalibrated.

Daz, I can see why some aspects like timing would be recalibrated for things like fuel quality. But it seems odd to be re-calibrating other maps like KFMIOP/KFMIRL. I mean, target cylinder filling and optimal torque production should be the same regardless yes? Or does it change that much when you re-calibrate aspects like the ignition timing.

Different calibration engineers, different calibrations.

Anyone you know ever tried out a Euro file on a North American B6 S4?

If so, any idea what their impressions were?
