Title: ME7.1.1 MK4 Golf R32 ECU - read SKC from ECU not the cluster? Post by: Owdi on May 01, 2016, 02:03:29 PM Hi all, I know this section is usually relating to reading / modifying / writing ECU files, but can anyone tell me what tools can be used just to read the SKC from an ECU? I know the usual method to read the SKC is from the instrument cluster, but what if the cluster is totally dead so the SKC is needed for the ECU to code a replacement cluster in?

The car n question has a totally dead / fried cluster, so it's not a matter of reading the SKC from the cluster, its a matter of reading it from the ECU, so I didn't go into the cluster section as I thought it was an ECU related question. Reading 7.1.1 is a pita from what I remember, bin is twice the size of a regular 7.5 and 7.1.1 immo. K0mpressed has definitely schooled me about this at some point before :)
