Title: 2.0t k04 question Post by: ktm733 on June 30, 2016, 08:20:41 AM I just bought a 2.0t and I'm about too purchase a k04. There's so much misinformation that I don't know what to believe anymore.
First things first, what do I need for fueling? people say s3 fuel pump, fuel injectors plus the rail? Next, people state, I need too upgrate the fuel pump in the tank? Last but not least people are saying I need to just upgrade the piston in the hpfp, and do s3 injectors. Can someone give me a legitimate answer. Thank you guys. Uprated HPFP not technically necessary - the K03 and K04 cars run the same HPFP which is good for ~330bhp with the midrange tied down.
Also, K04 doesn't have diverter valve in the compressor housing, so you'll need to get a K04 based car throttle pipe with DV flange take off. Standard 129bar rail valve is fine, RS4 valve allows a bit more pressure, but definitely not needed. Rail does not need changed. Would I need too go upgraded fuel pump piston and rs4 injectors? If it's a K03 car then it'll be either AXX or BWA engine code. They run 10.5:1 and 10.3:1 naturally. They're heavily knock limited so mid 300 CHP is your limit. Wossner 9.5:1 plus IE rods and the sky is your limit - the engine will be stronger than anything you can throw at it. For injectors, B7 RS4 are not the best. They run very smokey, even with start of injection fully advanced. The newer RS4 or 8V RS3 injectors are showing promising results though. HPFP will definitely need upgraded and for anything above 400CHP, so will tank pump. Title: Re: 2.0t k04 question Post by: ktm733 on July 01, 2016, 06:17:37 AM You're the man once again! I was reading about these engines and they jumped up to 10:6 compression then on the tsi they went back to 9:6 I believe. Should I be worried about snapping these balance shalfs with the torque? I work with the guy that builds these crazy k04 wheels. On the 1.8t we put down 360hp on a stock location k04! So we are throwing the stage 3 compressor wheel and turbine straight in. But I don't want too blow it up first pull.

But I don't want too blow it up first pull. Nah, lowest stock comp ratio on the TFSI is 9.8:1 found in the K04 based engines. Balance shafts don't tend to snap, but they've been known to seize which will snap the chain. The shafts run off a sprocket inside the oil pump housing so no chain = no oil pressure. The 1.8t oil pump will fit with a little block modification and use the 1.8t oil filter housing. Common mod on big build TFSIs as it removes the balance shaft assembly and also runs a little extra oil pressure due to the slightly smaller sprocket on the pump. K04 hybrids are good, but beware that when pushed they generate a huge amount of back pressure and EGTs. Some TFSI engines struggle with the back pressure and will misfire with valve float on the exhaust side. Cure is back off boost pressure, run a better flowing turbo, or fit stronger valve springs. You'll need a stronger actuator as well as the stock actuator will blow open the waste gate at the top end on a hybrid. You won't need an upgraded actuator for that. If you're building the bottom end I'd go for 25psi and taper to 19. Should be within the reach of any decent hybrid. |
