Title: Help about remap an Audi B5
Post by: mccloud90 on September 29, 2016, 09:58:27 AM
Hallo everyone. I am absolutely new to chip-tuning. I just have bought kess v2 and ktag all EU clone.I will start learning on my own car - Audi a4 b5 1.9tdi AFN engine.
I found that I can not do nothing with my hardware and I need to buy something called EPROM programmer or something like that. Do I have to buy another chip and write tuned file on it or I can reflash over my ecus original file? I am real noob and hope that I will able to understand what I have to do and how to do it right soon. Greatings.

I started to read two weeks ago but when this is all new and not like person haveseen before its so hard to find the right way to understand what you are reading. I need just some info about what to do/ read step by step... Not direct answers. But if you have they are all welcome. I know its a lot time consuming process's but I want to start from somewhere... And from where I have to start? :)
I am an architect from Bulgaria. I have spent a lot of time with vcds and I have 2years repairing cars  behind me. But no chiptuning. I want to spent time understanding and start making money from this.
THANKS

last B5 AFN have 038906012xx ecu and can be flashed.
Most are 038906018xx ecu and need soldering.
So check ecu number with diagnostic tool or on the sticker on the ECU.

So there is a chance to be "easy" but if it is not. Can you tell me tool model that I will need to buy? With wide range of options and for other cars in future? If I have to do a soldering mode should I do it on every "try" or when e change the chip I will be able to do it via ktag for example after that?
Any other must do and never do tips for a noon for me? I am talking for remapping at all? Thanks! I will check my ecu tomorrow. My eyes are so tired today :)

first check if you can flash this one so you don't have to buy other stuff.
For programming eprom's i use Galep5, works really well.
And need some hot air desoldering stuff, be aware you can kill your ecu quite easily...

Hi. Today i opened my ecu and it is 038906018S . inside i found both eproms that i need to tune. They are labeled bosch 1037356817 HHH721 and the other 1037356816 LLL721. What programer should i buy? What socket should i buy and what are the replaceable eproms that i should buy? Can you give me some tutorial about how to solder and desolder them? Thanks!!!!
