Title: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: dokalanyi on November 15, 2016, 01:16:27 AM The reason I ask, is because I've seen 2 logs -- one mine, the other from the 1.8T community tune. Knock voltages are similar, however mine has timing being pulled, while the community one has no timing pull, so I assume negligible/NO knock.
What's the relationship between knock and knock voltage? Title: Re: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: prj on November 15, 2016, 01:50:18 AM None. It is irrelevant.
Knock detection is done based on delta at the correct knock window. Title: Re: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: nyet on November 15, 2016, 01:58:25 AM None. It is irrelevant. Knock detection is done based on delta at the correct knock window. And a notch filter as well. Title: Re: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: dokalanyi on November 15, 2016, 03:10:59 AM Thanks Nyet and Prj. Although the only thing I've understood is "None. It is irrelevant."

Out of curiosity, whats the stop band parameters on this filter and where is it in the circuit? O.T. Title: Re: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: nyet on November 17, 2016, 06:42:55 PM Out of curiosity, whats the stop band parameters on this filter and where is it in the circuit? O.T. I wish I knew. I assume it is in the sensor itself, there is no way the ECU is fast enough to do a FFT for the required freq (i think). Title: Re: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: prj on November 17, 2016, 07:08:48 PM Uhm there is a separate knock processing chip on the board, the workings of which are explained in detail in the FR and in it's datasheet.
Title: Re: What is Knock Voltage? Post by: opticaltrigger on November 19, 2016, 10:02:07 AM Thanks for the response guy's,
I see where your coming from with the FFT nyet and thanks for the heads up with FR prj. I'll go have a read. All the best guy's O.T. |
