I bought a 2006 VW Jetta manufactured 01/2006 this is a K-line vehicle. there was no ecu in car when I bought it, also no key. This was a bargain at 500 bucks. Let the fun begin. I bought a used ecm same part number. I downloaded ArgDub's tool and proceeded to remove immo, piece of cake......I think lol. Installed an early style lock and key set from rockauto, it fit $32.00. Turns car on. Car starts yipeee! I have lights from hell ABS, ESP, Cruise, Airbag, etc etc. Using a generic scanner They won't friggen clear, Car runs like a stripped-ass ape, hauls ass like I never dreamed a VW could run. Went 120 mph on test drive. Now what's up with the codes???? The immo light flashes continually, but everything works. I think maybe my new ecu came from a different vw like maybe a 5 cylinder Beetle. It seems like it was too easy, I used a bench set-up, just threw it together using a wire harness from a wrecked roll-over with pc power supply and an ATV battery, rigged up power switch and ignition switch. It worked fine. I think I can put another image on it...no problem, but I'm already in the dog-house with this fine machine. lets treat her right. Any advise appreciated.

Well you will need a scanner that can scan the abs and whatnot. The immo light is on because
all you did was remove the immo from the ecu. The cluster still looks for a matched key and
ecu. The other light may or may not be related to the ecu, we wont know till you post the codes.

You said you got an ecm with the same part number for your car but then you say you think the ecu came from a different car (beetle?)... You should double check everything and make sure all your part numbers match.. and also, dont drive your car anymore before you blow it up...

airbag light, has the air bag deployed and maybe you just dont realize it because the P.O replaced the blown steering wheel with a new wheel?

You gotta do a code scan with vag com and get us a detailed list of codes. And I think I speak for everyone when I say, dont just post "P0101, P0121..." If you have VCDS, scan for fault codes and take a screen shot or something. If all you have is a diagnostic code reader device, google search each of the P0102 codes it will likely give you and then copy and paste each of the codes with their short description from the ross-tech website that will likely come up on the first page of each of the google searches you perform.
