Title: MPPS cable on audi a4 1.8T 8E0909518P
Post by: airtite on November 17, 2011, 03:42:14 AM
Hi Guys

bought the MPPS cable under the impression it would be able too read/write my ecu flash. I plugged it into my car and when I select my model it comes up with an error saying "no external voltage connected" does this mean I need too hook up a charger and remove the number 15 fuse? Is there any other way I can use this cable too read the ECU?

The cable came with version 10 I think (busy replacing vista with XP too check if that works) I did try and upgrade too version 12 but after that when starting MPPS it would come up with the firmware upgrade but not see the cable/device.

As long as I know others have had success connecting with the MPPS cable that helps, is there any other software that I can use too read the ecu? I have tried the nefmoto software and it doesnt see the cable either, tried galleto and the same results.

a little more info, the cable isnt being setup as a serial device ie no com port. It is being seen as a AMT flash device BUT under mpps versioninfo its being listed as a clone cable. Is there any other software that I can use with this cable too read/flash my ecu?

you need a new MCU, you have a clone cable with clone serial, MPPS soft recognized it, flagged it, and destroyed the cable for you.

im pretty positive MPPS v10 was one of the version's that had me7 flashing BROKE.  v11 and up it was fixed. fyi

just go get a cheapy v5 from ebay for 50 or a kwp2000+ which works always everytime for me for many years now.

thanks for the info  :( hopefully I can get the supplier too swap the cable out and perhaps replace it with the following cables?

Galletto 1260 OBDII EOBD ECU Flashing Cable   Galletto 1260 OBDII EOBD ECU Flashing Cable

KWP2000 Plus ECU Flashing Cable for BMW, VW, Mercedes, Ford etc   KWP2000 Plus ECU Flashing Cable for BMW, VW, Mercedes, Ford etc

any idea if the above cables will work?

You may search for the patch file for MPPS. I have get a MPPS V5 patched file to correct the upgraded cable which being destroyed by AMT-Tech. After patching the destroyed MPPS V5, I could re-use the cable to read the flash ROM successfully. Cause, when you using the destroyed MPPS V5, you can not save the full file, and you will see the words request you to connect to AMT-Tech in the head of BIN file.

thanks, I have tried the patch BUT using my old clear/blue dumb cable and the nefmoto software I was able too connect and when trying to read it was logging an entry about my ecu being locked by aftermarket something. My ecu was mapped before and I think the tuner may have locked it. I have spoken to him about loading my original map so I am able too read write myself, hopefully saturday.

You don't need him to flash the original, you can do that yourself with Nefmoto.  It won't read the tuned file, but you can flash another file over it, and then also read it back if you wanted.

thanks Rick, just a little nervous because I havent been able too find a stock map for my exact ecu yet. Mine is the 8E0909518P, I have found stock bin files for the following 8E0909518AL, 8E0909518AS, 8E0909518M do you think any of those would work? Another thing I dont seem too have the "flash all" option available it may be because I am not 100% sure which memory map to use?

The probem of no external voltage is that cabel does not fit all the way into obd socket.
I had the same problem. Just trim down all the plastic to the bare pins and shove it in obd.
it will connect.
