Title: 4B0906018AA question
Post by: tomexx on March 01, 2017, 01:28:20 PM
Hello to everybody,

as you can see i am new here and i am trying to learn few things about tuning and car electronics...

A have successfully downloaded flash memory from my car (Audi A4, 1.8T, quattro, 2000 year, 4B0906018AA ecu).
As i have read some information about this particular ecu here on forum and on other forums, the memory layout should be 29F400BB, but reading with this memory layout was unsuccessfully, while reading with 29F800BB memory layout was successfully.

After download of bin i have checked it with ME7Check.exe and result is:

me7check v1.12 (c) mki, 06/2004-05/2012
Checking file stock.bin (size=1048576)
Reading Version Strings...
-> Bootrom Version = 05.12
-> EPK = 42/1/ME7.5/5/4016.00//F22gb/Dst06g/170899/
-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - '0261206449'         (SSECUHN)
   - '1037352728'         (SSECUSN)
   - '4B0906018AA '       (VAG part number)
   - '0006'               (VAG sw number)
   - '1.8L R4/5VT     '   (engine id)
-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - 'HW_MAN004'

WARNING: flash should be 512kB of size, but the file is 1MB !!
-> trying to analyze only the first 512kB of the file
-> No errors found. File is OK.   *********************

I am not sure may i proceed with remapping of this file, would i face difficulties when i should write back this file to ECU?

Thank you all for answers and please do not mind on the noob question.

Split the file in half, and check the 1st half for errors

Hi, yes, in the meantime i have split 1024kb file into 2 512 kb files.
After that i have check both of them with me7check and both files were OK.
After that i have compared these 2 files between each other and they are looking the same.
I have also compared them with stock .bin which i have downloaded from internet and both of them are matching to this file.

It looks like Nefmoto was reding 512kb of flash, and after that it was reading again same 512kb and written them in one 1024kb file.

Yes, it is a known error for this ecu. Just make it a 512kb file and edit/upload this when you are done. The flash inside is 400BB so it is not possible to upload a 1024kb file to it.

Yes, already done this - main question was about how to update file when it is done, thank you for clarification.
