Title: ECU Pics For Reference and Educational Purposes Only
Post by: EuroXs4 on April 18, 2010, 08:05:43 PM
So I recently Purchased this Ecu.To test Reading and Flashing Using Galletto 1260 which is really 1250 or 1245 or whatever you wanna call it.Its a Clone Cable. All of them are the same no difference just the numbers is changed but no difference in the software what so ever.I posted these Pictures just for reference and pretty much just to figure out what each chip does and find out if anyone would care to lend a hand and let me know why there is another chip on the external board wit the eprom on it???Any information would be useful to me and I'm sure everyone on this forum.

I'll be buying a UK S4 later this year, do we know which version of the ECU they come with?  Seems we only really know the map locations of the Mbox?  I'm thinking though, if you used WinOLS you could look for the same maps at addreses near by and then create a definition file for other versions.

As far as i know all me7.1 s4 ecus are the same or similar any bin file can be flashed to a s4 ecu.you can flash a mbox ecu with hbox file or a abox ecu with a mbox file its just a matter of  swapping mafs for the correct file.Early s4 had bosch mafs and late ones had a hitachi maf.

I believe the 1999 S4 in Europe came with an ECU that only had a 512k 29F400 flash chip, while later years had the 1meg 29F800 flash chip.

Why don't you keep the maf and swap the MLHFM map instead? Would it be doable?

I would assume Its possible,I havent really looked into this yet But Im sure others have.I believe the Way the inputs are read and calculated is different on the hitachi and the bosch.Im sure that would have to be addressed as well.
