Title: Rough idle after remap
Post by: Kina on March 10, 2017, 08:08:32 AM
Hello everyone,
I've been reading this forum for 2 weeks now. I appreciate it very much.
So, my first attempt at remapping was ALS and NLS which was very productive. (Got it on the first try)
Only things I've added to the bin were ALS and NLS and nothing else, now I am expiriencing rough idle.
What are your suggestions on this?
The car is a 02 GTI 1,8T AUM

Did you use the file that was originally on the car?  Was it original?

Bent rods?  Dead valves?  Compression test?

Yes, the original map was used and modified. HJ is the index.
Flashed the mods this morning and fired her up for a warm up drive, did not try it till she warmed up. Rough idle was still present before and after the test. The idle on the stock map was very smooth.
The learned ECU parameteres reset after a remap?
I will look how it does in the next couple of hours until it adapts?

No, something else is amiss.  Mine idles perfectly even after flashing, it shouldn't be any different.

Did you modify the low end of kfmirl and kfmiop?

Flash back to stock and see if the issue goes away.
Hopefully it does.

Post stock and modified files.   You could just be running on fuel trims far from 0.  Flashing clears the lifts, and it may take a little bit of driving to readapt.

Here is the stock bin and modified.

Forgot to add,
the rough idle sorts itself after I touch the gas pedal.
I think it will sort itself after some hours of driving.
Will report more, also (for the people reading) feel free to use the attached ALS Corrected.bin on your HJ 0003 AUM as it is good, atleast it seems so.

This is never a good thing.

Do a compression and leak down test...

Not related to a re-map but I had rough idle on my 1.8t until I sorted my PCV system. Make sure your dipstick, oil filler cap and rocker cover all make a good seal because if not, the engine vacuum will suck unmetered air into the intake from any of the those areas.
Most posts I read mention checking the PCV valve only but that's not the full story.

After fixing all air leaks at the above mentioned places, I get rock steady idle at 760RPM with 1000cc injectors.
