Title: EGT sensors
Post by: masterj on December 03, 2011, 10:52:42 AM
Ok, so today I was testing me7logger (which is awesome by the way!) and there was something I wanted to ask you... Do 1.8T PASSATs/A4s have EGT sensors? Engine code is AWT. Now melogger found me two variables tats_w and tikatm_w which both should show me EGT: one modeled and another actual. Problem is that actual EGT is dead @ 1150 C. Does it mean that my sensor is dead or that my ME7.5 doesn't use them and uses only modeled EGT? :O

Logs attached, please use ECUXPlot

If I'm right CATR is 0 in your file so there is no egt sensor in tour car ..
it's on K04-023 BAM AMK .

so everything is based on modeled EGT in my car? Also how ME7.5 calculates (models) EGT? Can I just tune it based on modeled temps (don't go over 900 C) and that's it? or should I buy aftermarket EGT sensor to see real temperatures?

my EGT stays at 950` with stock 210hp.... a little bit high

I thought that at 900C Ecu starts to intervene to lower temps down

EGT sensors do not read any lower than 945 c. They do not intervene until 980 c. You should be reading a solid 945 c if everything is working properly.

not on BAM and AMK ...
they have an EGT sensor that can read 360-1160°C and ATR start to enrich at 970°C .
in masterj's ECU
ATR is disabled by CATR = 0 and TABGSS = 1250°C
so I think it don't have an EGT sensor .

never made any log on my freind car audi S3 AMK but stock it run lambda 0.95 at WOT for emissions until lambts override lambda to ~0.68
I bet EGT can raise up to more than 900 °C on a long WOT run in stock form .
