Title: Shift indicator/light or alarm
Post by: boostaddict1989 on March 23, 2017, 05:32:51 PM
Has anyone ever set up a shift light/alarm? I was thinking it would be sweet if a light or alarm or a dash light came on at a curtain rpm. Any ideas?

EPC/MIL after certain RPM can be easily done with a bit of custom assembly code.
Check if nmot is over threshold, then set/clear according bits. Optionally - preserve their previous state so you don't disturb normal operation.

See thats where i get lost. modifying codes and whatnot is way above me right now. I just got into this to figure out a simple stage 1 tune and come to find all these other software accessories. I figured out the soft limiter, timing (Basically copied Giac tune) and fueling for 92 (oregon premium) and boost just below 1 bar. I just would like to set the light at the point where my soft limiter holds.

(Basically copied Giac tune)

Likely you copied a fake timing table.

You should start with the community tune, if anything not GIAC.

Ideally, start from SCRATCH do not blindly copy anything. It is a very bad idea.

That kind of pisses me off that they made it readable but put something in the code that would fu$% my car up. Real nice of them. Really great people...

Maybe you should e-mail them, and tell them how you feel?

Maybe you can suck it. I did email them a month ago and no response.

GIAC is not in the business of letting you copy their tunes.

Don't buy proprietary solutions if you don't like it.

This is why I always publish EVERYTHING I do.

Almost nobody does that in this industry.

All the more reason to not expect anything from them. Why get so upset at them?

Just start from scratch so there is no doubt as to what changes do what.

You seem really aggressive when people are trying to help.

The community stage 1s are really helpful to get you started.  Copying isn't ideal; but for stage 1 it will get you going for sure.  Just be sure to log fuel and knock.
