Title: Can anyone read/write/tune E36 DMEs?
Post by: Smitherines on December 09, 2011, 08:02:49 AM
With the lack of available info for tuning BMWs altogether, since it's such a closed door situation, has anyone tried to tune these cars? It would be nice to bring the E36 into a state where the car can be tuned by the end user.  Anyone have any info?

Thanks guys.

Bosch M1.7, M3.1, M3.3.1 and Siemens MS40 are easily tuneable with chip burner / emulator.
I don't have experience with later ecus like Bosch M5.2 and Siemens MS41, though they can be done via OBD2.

theres tons of bmw info out there, more so than motronic 7/9 by a long shot.  You are looking in the wrong places.

as the other guy said, they are cake to tune and find info, just get yourself a willem or something to write chips, and theres tons of tunerpro def's out there.

LMK what ecu you have, i have some project files from the past that MAY help you ;)

Perhaps I should have clarified that I have a 1997 M3. I need to be able to flash this thing. That's the only thing holding me back from turboing her! I need something to flash through the OBD2 port, unless theres another method.
