Title: MMPS ECU Read Post by: gareth_iowc on May 16, 2017, 02:35:45 PM Hi all,
so i've been messing around with a spare me7.5 ecu for my 1.8t before i touched mine. my ecu has come with a unknown map on it and can't be read by nefmoto so i bought a MMPS cable. When reading my ecu is there anything to look out for? i heard somthing about them possibly going into valet mode? is that possible? thanks Title: Re: MMPS ECU Read Post by: ivan on May 16, 2017, 03:24:56 PM There are not any risk reading an ecu (at least me7.5 or old ecus), mpps work very good on vag so not worry about it, if you brick the ecu writing you can recovery it using boot mode of mpps

It'll definitely read in bootmode, and one day you may need to do it so it might be best to learn how to do it when there's no pressure or time limit on it ;D
learn to read and write the 95040 eeprom and to read and write the flash as it'll help in the future. Title: Re: MMPS ECU Read Post by: nubcake on May 18, 2017, 03:46:50 PM does boot mode stop that? If you start with reading in boot mode - that won't happen. Title: Re: MMPS ECU Read Post by: gman86 on May 19, 2017, 06:02:59 AM does boot mode stop that? Yes. The majority of useful maps will be encrypted anyway so not much use to you. If you want to tune, start with a proper ORI for your SW ver and go from there. Don't tweak other peoples calibrations. I've successfully managed to rip my ecu And flash it onto another that original had a different software version and it runs exactly the same with no problem. I'm quite excited and I was looking at vag EDC suite but I can't seam to find a getting started guide like winols. Childish but the first thing I wanted to edit was hard cut limiter. Cheers Gareth Title: Re: MMPS ECU Read Post by: gman86 on May 19, 2017, 07:05:57 AM Thanks for all the help guys. Cheers Gareth EDC suite is for diesel ECUs. It'll not find much in your ME7 Title: Re: MMPS ECU Read Post by: gareth_iowc on May 19, 2017, 10:04:27 AM Ah thanks. That explains a lot :D
