Title: Checksum error doesn't make sense Post by: SUPREME on June 28, 2017, 11:14:30 PM After reading my current tune, I used ME7check and it comes up telling me there is an error, but the file is on my car and I drive it daily. How/Why would a checksum error be present on an operational .bin? This is probably a dumb question, but I am trying to learn quickly, and this just doesn't come across as normal.

Have you opened the ECU yet? Not yet, its my daily driver, just haven't had the opportunity yet. I may try tonight to see. Hoping it doesn't brick. I got around to pulling the ecu tonight, does not appear to be any aftermarket solder jobs. Title: Re: Checksum error doesn't make sense Post by: adam- on June 29, 2017, 11:46:43 PM Sounds like tuner has disabled then.

Yeah, sound like this is what's going on. But if it is a tuned file, wouldn't there be errors in more than one checksum? Unless there was only maps changed in one checksum area? Title: Re: Checksum error doesn't make sense Post by: SUPREME on June 30, 2017, 07:45:32 AM Strange, are you using the latest me7check? :) I think so, I'm at work now, I will double check when I get home. Yeah, sound like this is what's going on. But if it is a tuned file, wouldn't there be errors in more than one checksum? Unless there was only maps changed in one checksum area? Definitely more than one map was changed. NLS/LC, Stage 1+, Evap/SAI/N249 Delete Is there anyway to check if checksum checking was disabled. Have you tried to open your bin in WinOls? Title: Re: Checksum error doesn't make sense Post by: SUPREME on June 30, 2017, 08:27:01 AM Yes there is, it is completely detailed here on Nefmoto by prj. You can find it easily. Have you tried to open your bin in WinOls? That is the only software I haven't touched yet, because I am still trying to learn address locations and HEX coding is somewhat new to me too. Title: Re: Checksum error doesn't make sense Post by: nyet on June 30, 2017, 09:32:12 AM Any particular reason you didn't use ME7Sum on it?
Title: Re: Checksum error doesn't make sense Post by: SUPREME on July 13, 2017, 08:41:55 AM Any particular reason you didn't use ME7Sum on it? Sorry for the delayed response, I broke my elbow and haven't been able to do much. I haven't used ME7Sum, because I didn't do this tune I simply read it trying to see what had been altered. After reading I was testing out ME7Check to ensure I could actually use it and found the checksum error, but was quite confused because I thought if checksums weren't correct it would brick my ECU. I will run ME7Sum on it when I get home. |
