Title: 1999 audi A4 1.8T and its AM29F200 flash questions
Post by: vwnut8392 on December 29, 2011, 02:11:31 PM
ive been toying with an A4 that has an AM29F200BB chip and i cannot get it to read via OBD. i have a galetto 1260 clone cuz honestly i have never had any luck with the nefmoto software with any cable i own, not talking trash just not a very lucky guy. anyhow am i going to have to unsolider the chip in this one or any mod that can be done to the ECU to allow flashing via OBD?

search this forum for bootmode. Works perfectly with galletto. You only have to take the ecu out,
and temp. bridge 1 pin inside for 3 secs when appyling power to the ecu. Works fine over here.
Soldering is not needed.

Kwp2000+ interface could also be used, and might work via obd also.

Best interface to get, is the mpps interface. Thats works great via obd. It also supports bootmode.

Cheers,

thanks for the input PVL, your so full of useful information. i looked into the MPPS V5 and its functionality looks to be the same as the galetto 1260, can you explain any difference?

Galletto works ONLY in bootmode with M7.x.x ecu's. And is Rocksolid.

Mpps ALSO has bootmode-options, like galletto, but actually WORKS via OBD.

If it fails, get yourselfe a benchflash harness, and do it on the workbench. 99,9%
success guarranteerd ! I did difficult cars with MPPS. Worked a treat.

GET the thang....  v12 is the most stable one, but V3 or v5 will do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought 99 A4 was pre ME7? Isn't it ME5.9.2 or earlier? If so, I don't think read over OBDII is possible. I'm unsure of bootmode for it though. I have a 99.5, and I looked into this a while ago, but back then there's a really good chance I skipped over something.

Read with vagcom,  channel 1. And show us the ecu numbers.
This tells way more than alot of blablabla...
