Title: VW Golf mk5 GTI PIN code retrieval
Post by: sheepwolf on November 11, 2017, 04:32:33 PM
Hello,
Looking for help because I can not get PIN code to read from cluster. I need pin code as I want to attach second key which I bought blank. I intend to use VCDS for doing this.

So. In VagTacho 5.0 it says that it connected succesfully when I used "VDO New - CAN TP2".
But button "Read PIN" is not accessible.
At the same time it resets cluster (time, mileage, other MFA data gathered) and provides error in VagTacho 5.0:

"Wrong Seed-Key! Try manual mode for VDO! See Options in...."
I tried all the tacho type options available in the list while in manual mode, but without a luck.
Car is manufactured in 2004/2005, cluster P/N 1K6920870E, software version V3505HL, Immo ID starts: VWZ7Zxxxxxxxxx (which is probably 4a)

How can I get that code ? Or I'm doing something wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Hi, aef.
I know it's stored in ECU, but how can I get read ?
I use chinese VagTacho, which does not have "ECU read" function available. I know if I'd have normal version of VagTacho, it has has such a feature. What's "bdm equipment" ? What does it stand for ?

Golf 5 uses different cluster brands and types.
I assume you have a red lcd (red fis) cluster, and this can be :
- Visteon
- Micronas old
- Micronas new

Only Micronas old is supported by Vagtacho (I'm not sure if clone supports it as well).
Micronas new and Visteon aren't supported by Vagtacho.

If cluster is Visteon there is some hacked tool in public made by Codecard.
It can parse the eeprom and show some immo data, including pin.
