Title: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on November 25, 2017, 07:06:55 AM Hi,
I thought I had circumvented the < 5 degree centigrade initial start issue where the car disables the N75 until the engine is switched off and on again, but it is still doing this. What this means is if the weather is cold the boost pressure doesn't go over 7 PSI on the first engine start, if I drive for a minute or so then switch ignition off and on again the issue is resolved. It is a known fault / protection system which is apparently usually resolved when a mapper puts on a stage 1 map, but mine still does this. Does anyone know which settings should sort this problem out? The ones I was told previously controlled this cold morning starting issue was. "FPDKLDUS - Lower threshold for leak detection in front of throttle at low idle" and the suggestion was to make this 0. Thanks in advance Stuart Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: KasperH on November 25, 2017, 08:41:43 AM I have never heard of this "feature"?
I have never had problem with this and where I live the weather has been below 0℃ for about a month and is about half of the year. Or is it just specific to S3/AMK? Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on November 25, 2017, 08:51:08 AM I believe it's a known software defect on some 2001 S3's - it doesn't sort itself out until a ignition off / on. but only when the * shows in the DIS.

Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on November 26, 2017, 01:07:27 AM Hi, yep that fault code rings a bell, but I don't ever get an EML and don't recall seeing it in VCDS Error's for "Engine" - but I will check for errors this morning, maybe it get purged somehow?

Read about LKVDKNMN Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on November 29, 2017, 02:47:03 PM ahh thanks as a complete beginner I can only find one post in nefariousmotorsports for LKVDKNMN - and it is not in my 8N0 906 018 BH.xdf file
is this a setting I can view by adding the hex address range manually in tunerpro? is there a "bible" for certain settings? guys on ASN suggested this AMK defect is usually resolved in stage 1 maps? if I use a standard BAM base map to apply my fueling, timing and load maps is it likely to not have this fault? its actually quite funny to overtake cars with only 6 PSI boost - you know how the other cars feel :D Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: aef on November 30, 2017, 09:23:56 AM post your file
Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on December 03, 2017, 01:59:25 PM hmmm I will try and delete some of the other attachments as I have as I don't have any "upload space".
thanks yay, managed to zip the bin after deleting some images from another thread. Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: sonique on December 03, 2017, 05:27:06 PM FVPDKLDUS
not zero all LKVDKNMN 0x19968 set 10000 or hexa: FA Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on December 05, 2017, 02:57:05 PM thanks for you excellent help.
I will look into tunerpro in adding an address to the XDF. (and take the spare ECU with me - just in case) Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on December 05, 2017, 03:18:45 PM 19968 is a single byte address with a max value of FF
(255) so I don't understand the option for 10000 or FA which is 250 ? it currently has FF in - should I just set that in the hex editor or add a scalar tuner pro setting to the XDF? I have compared with another map I was given in July, which actually has 0D in this location? and so does the stock BAM map? is it possible that either the initial Stage 1 map introduced this issue or the AMK original map had this protection included? Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: sonique on December 05, 2017, 05:48:16 PM make map
factor : 40,000000 original : 520 >> set 10000 or edit hexeditor and use FA but work FF 10200 original all amk or bam working this funktion or other 1.8t but many stg1 disabled this funkction amk ecu working fine bam binary 018BH but definition 2 file same Title: Re: S3 AMK cold morning ECU MAP defect resolution Post by: stuartdean on December 06, 2017, 01:52:55 PM so I understand now thanks
The standard is "0D" which is 13 and the multiplier (factor) is 40 which is 13*40 = 520 Therefore, FA is 10000 (250 * 40) and FF is 10200 so the location is correct, thanks very much.
