Title: Adding NOREAD to ECU file Post by: Pasteurised on December 19, 2017, 02:26:28 PM Is it as simple as finding a block of FF FF FF FF FF FF data in .bin and replacing it with 4E 4F 52 45 41 44 (NOREAD)?
Thanks Title: Re: Adding NOREAD to ECU file Post by: vwaudiguy on December 19, 2017, 02:37:03 PM Is it as simple as finding a block of FF FF FF FF FF FF data in .bin and replacing it with 4E 4F 52 45 41 44 (NOREAD)? Thanks First rule of NOREAD. If you have to ask how to do it, nobody is remotely interested in your software. Very true lol! Suppose it could be useful to stop anyone just reading and then flashing your half decent file on to multiple cars and charging people for it - because someone like that wont usually know how to boot flash the ecu I guess, regardless as to whether there's any crazy implemented code it just stops someone making easy money from just knowing how to read and write. ;D Title: Re: Adding NOREAD to ECU file Post by: gman86 on December 20, 2017, 04:16:16 AM Very true lol! The chances of it ending up in the hands of someone else with the ECU upon which to flash it is even slimmer yet. These people aren't going to be stealing business from that person as I'd assert that said person has no business to steal. I'd leave it untagged and let idiots put their name to it - it's them it'll come back to. Title: Re: Post by: THANAS on December 20, 2017, 07:12:03 AM NOREAD is not always honoured by flashing tools, is that because it hasn't been implemented in the correct place? Also any significant risk of a CS error?

Also any significant risk of a CS error? No, because it's a decision of the tool/software maker only.
