Title: Read EEprom from A8 D2 MJ2001
Post by: cotecmania on December 29, 2017, 06:50:13 AM
Hello,

i want to replace my existing cluster and i fail reading Eeprom on both. I do not have login.
I use VAG K+CAN 2.5.
I can connect to the cluster by K-Line:
4D0919033BA - D2-Kombiinstrument - R. VDO D12
WAUZZZ... AUZ7Z0...

When i try to read EEprom (Instrument Cluster A8 (11.1996-) the it connects and reads adress 0x00 and half of 0x10 then ends.

Any ideas ?

Best regards

Ok.
Just wondering why older ones AND newer ones can be read ? Is this special complexity ? And why ?

What cheap eeprom burner/reader can you suggest ? I found something like carprog. Can i buy this in china ?
I do not want to spent more than 100 .- Euros.

The clusters have different epproms , processor etc.

Something like ezp2010 should be enough to read it , carprog would be better i think ( check of it supports a8 clusters ), but if its crypto ( i guess from my2002 ) it wont be enough - only very expensive tools have this option

That is all I know , there is a topic where i asked about it , search for it.

Your k-can is m..... up, so if you wanna read it - try with vag tacho, or open it and read it manually.
If it's with 24c16 - cheap progammer works like a charm, but there is a verson with 24c17 you need to mod it to read and write. Check datasheet.

Before you make any changes, search is this cluster is crypto version (24c17) , because if you put another eeprom image you will get a DEF error. If it's not crypto- You are the man!
The pin in an unencrypted dump from 99-2000 is on 0x7BC and 0x7BD

P.s: I have a chiniese k-can 1.6, last job for the "commander" was -> hitted by hammer, because is total crap!!!   ;)
