Title: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Post by: iborisov on January 03, 2018, 02:21:49 AM I'm looking at a tuning file and wonder what is this change in the part of the FF to the end of the file?
Title: Re: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Post by: gman86 on January 03, 2018, 03:18:03 AM It's the tag of the person who wrote the software. Namely someone called "Arjan"

How did you understand what was changed? What FF section is and is there rules ( map adresses ) where and what to change? Please, share information (link) about FF section in ME7.5 ECU files. I want to read and learn it. If I'm not wrong I have read that there is placed a code for Launch control... And another question: Is it possible for the person who remapped the ecu to put some protection somewhere and now if I try to write a new file over the OBD something to go wrong? What does it mean when people talking about Locked ECUs (like Revo do ) for read and write. Is there locking code in ECU file or in EEPROM file? Title: Re: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Post by: nyet on January 03, 2018, 02:14:57 PM Dont bother trying to decode someone else's file. Just write your own and call it a day.
There are a million threads here that explain why. In short, yes you can place custom code in unused space, or even just text or data as a tag. Title: Re: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Post by: 4ringpieces on January 03, 2018, 03:01:30 PM I like to insert “Fuck off cunt” into my files
Also changing bits like high octane switch and knock control so if anyone was to dick about in the file it’ll probably melt haha Title: Re: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Empty areas of the flash are usually identifiable by big blocks of "FF". The end of a flash read is the most common area. I was able to decipher the tag because I can work out 8 bit hex values in my head. Some tuners will lock an ECU to prevent it being read. It looks like yours hasn't. I would say it's highly unlikely that someone has went to the hassle of write protecting the ECU but allows you to read the calibration freely. As Nyet said, scrap the file and find an original for your ECU and work with that. Use the S4Wiki to gain a basic understanding as to how the ECU works and what you need to change to tune it. The S4Wiki assumes that you have a solid understanding of whats required to tune a car beyond simply increasing boost pressure. Title: Re: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Most "tuner protection" is just a noread tag ajd regardless anyone can read the file in bootmode Title: Re: Changes to FF section of the ME7.5 file? Post by: iborisov on January 04, 2018, 02:25:26 AM Well what I understend from you and google :)
There is no possibility to protect your files. If someone put the NOREAD tag in the file and then write file in the ECU, then some tools will not save the read when they get this, also OLS will refuse to open the file. But this is a minor protection. 1 .ECU locking don't work in boot mode 2. NOREAD can be found and FF And as far as I understand it is impossible to do a write protection? Dont bother trying to decode someone else's file. Just write your own and call it a day. As Nyet said, scrap the file and find an original for your ECU and work with that. Of course I will scrap the file :) I just wanted to see what changes were made to this file. Remap was made by one of the top 3 tuning companies in my country. As far as I can see there is a super bad remap. The car is with K04-15 turbo and no PID maps alerted. (Expect wrongly KFLDIMX ). The car overboost all the time... For ME7.5 read/write protection is pointless (bootmode) NOREAD is pointless (anybody with half a brain can override it) Encryption is pointless (I doubt any hobbiest here can make a file worth protecting for this ancient ECU - I know I can't. I haven't bothered). |
