Title: Help Bosch Med 9.5.10 Bricked
Post by: elocatel on February 17, 2018, 07:53:31 AM
Hi,

I have an Audi a3 8p FSI 2.0 , it has an Bosch Med 9.5.10 ECU.

I was writing a modified file using ODB2 with Galleto 1260 and computers hangs, so the ecu is bricked, car does not start.

Before that, I did a backup of the ecu (File size is 2 MB), I'm aware that put the ecu in boot mode shoud work, but I'dont know which pin shoud I ground.

I have seen many examples talking about pin 24, but this does not work on my ecu.

My ecu has a M58BW016 flash chip, which pin is the correct one?

Please help!!

Regards,

Enzo

Yes I want to use boot mode but I don't know which pin of the flash chip should I ground, do you?

Attached is a picture of my ecu's chips.

Thanks

Jokers...

There is no boot mode on this ECU, you need BDM.

Only BDM will solve it.

Saw a guy state that he could revive with mpps but I really doubt it was true

i bricked one via obd flashing before and recovery was with vcp sgo flash.
no bdm required.

With mpps it didn't work... don't know for vcp

well mpps is what bricked my 9.5.10. flashed to about 75% and crashed.
data only read had 1 byte that was incorrect when compared to sgo extract. full flash produced the correct file.
problem was with tool.

Hi all,

I've sent the ecu for bdm programing with "stage 1" file I bougth.

After receiving the ecu, I installed it and now the car does not start.

Colud this be a problem of the remap? or maybe bdm programming guy forget to immo off ?

Please help.

regards,

Enzo

Why would you need immo off?

And you are a textbook example of what NOT to do.
1. Buy shit file from somewhere.
2. Send to someone to BDM the ECU.

Also 9.5.10 is NA usually, is it not? What did you expect to gain on NA car?

Go to dealer, buy new ECU, let it get coded to your car and learn your lesson.

Thanks for your reply.

Lesson learnt!! So should i buy a new ECU?

What about to give a try and program using original bkp file (using bdm) ?

But you sent the ECU somewhere, so how do you know your readout is even good?

The ECU has flashable area from 0x20000 and until the end in the flash. I don't remember if it had flashable mpc too or not.
The 0x20000 and on area is no problem, you simply need to know what was the file number and version of your ECU, and it is possible to extract this data from a sgo file.

However, the area below 0x20000 contains the bootloader and also specific configuration of your car, such as immo and so on.
If this data is damaged/corrupted, then there is no way to restore it without basically writing blank data on and adapting the ecu to the car with dealer tool.
Whether galletto read the area below 0x20000 or not - I don't know. Older versions of MPPS used to do so.
This is assuming whoever you sent the ECU to didn't flip the BDM or fry the processor/ecu in some other way.

If you want the car running, fastest way is to buy new or used ECU and have it adapted by dealer to your car.
Then you will have your old one as spare and you can make experiments with it if you want. Buy some china BDM, read out your ECU, compare it to galletto readout and so on, there is no guarantee that it is even possible to make it work with the data you have or that it has no hardware damage.
But this all takes time - weeks probably. If you don't need the car, no problem of course.

How do you BDM SGO files?

Only BDM will solve it.

Saw a guy state that he could revive with mpps but I really doubt it was true

I've only had 1 unrecoverable ECU that needed BDM'd and that was because the immo went active. Other than that, MED9 is always recoverable up the port - the boot loader section never gets touched in an OBD write so it can never break.

I'm just having problems immo off and flashing my extra ecu I had it working before and now I can't remeber how I done it.

Hi Prj/all,

Just an update, as you mentioned I bought another ECU. The original ECU is broken.

Where can I find the SGO file for my car? Is there any website?

Thanks and Regards,

Enzo
