Title: Changing octane rating for an ECU/Tune Post by: boneskid1 on March 26, 2018, 09:36:31 PM Is is possible to change the octane rating a tune looks for?
I purchased a second hand tuned ecu that I was told was setup for 91/93, but after some complications (car dying with the tuned ecu) I do not think this is the case. Sadly where I live I only have access to 91 octane not 93. I tried to google the subject a little bit, but found no helpful information. Any input is greatly appreciated! P.S. this is for my AWP 1.8t mk4 gti Title: Re: Changing octane rating for an ECU/Tune Post by: nyet on March 26, 2018, 10:34:25 PM it should be fine.

Title: Re: Changing octane rating for an ECU/Tune Post by: nyet on March 28, 2018, 12:47:35 PM OEM knock recognition will work down to 87 oct, unless the tuner numbed it intentionally. You won't make as much power as a tune made specifically for 91, but it should be more or less safe.
If you do not know what your tuner did, you have a few choices: 1) don't worry about it 2) ask your tuner to fix it 3) revert to stock 4) DIY your own tune based on stock Do not modify tuner files. |
