Hi Guys

Does anyone know of any other ways too view and clear codes without using vcds/vagcom?

Sure, there are a million different standa alone fault code readers avaialble for this purpose.

Maybe cheap OBD reader will be sufficient for you (engine fault codes only)

Nefmoto reads codes...

Keep in mind though that all the other scanners, nefmoto included, only read engine ECU codes. AFAIK they are not capable of going into all the other modules and doing the read out unlike vcds that can

looking for something that I can use with my same FTDI cable and my laptop similar too the other community tools we have available ie me7check, me7logger, nefmoto flasher, etc

afaik there is no config for me7.1 or at least not on the monoblock site. Unless somebody gets it to work (I couldn't a while ago when I tried) , the software can't really be considered a viable replacement to VAG-COM... which leaves vag-com the only option.

AFAIK this site has a cracked vag-com (older version) that works, it also has other goodies for B5 platform like full bentley):

I had a go at generating one, I ca't remember if this is mine or the default one...
