Title: 021906018M 12 VR6 turbo stalling issue help.
Post by: coreyj03 on July 31, 2018, 02:57:58 PM
Hello, any insight or help with this will be appreciated. I have this tuned VR6 turbo that has had this stalling issue(ongoing for a couple years with nobody able to figure it out) when you push in the clutch to come to a stop while driving the revs drop and it dies.  Restarts just fine  and no DTC's.  The original tuner of the car is nowhere to be found so im at a loss with this.  It is a slightly rough cold start ,but clears up in about 3-5 seconds.

Things that have been checked/replaced.
Throttle body
Mass air flow sensor
Crank position sensor
fuel pump/ pressure
oxygen sensor
vacuum/ boost leaks
STFT/LTFT under 5%

Load readings in MVB are around 11% at idle with about 3 g/s on the Maf reading

I've been trying to brainstorm this problem and have pretty much ruled out everything mechanical.
Now im interested in looking at KFMRES and KFMRESK to possibly adjust to soften the RPM drop to stop the stalling.

Im going to post the screen shots of the maps in question.    The label that says TUNE is the modified turbo file.

mods are 4" maf housing .630cc deka injectors, short runner manifold , precision turbo, 3" exhaust, built short block.

MLHFM is just showing the difference of the first part that has been scaled.  Can send the tune in question if someone is offering help.

What values should i change in KFMRES and KFMRESK?

I added about 20% in the 1000-2000 rpm range on KFMRES/K  that only slightly helped the issue on certain conditions, but created other problems.  The majority of the issue is still there, mostly happens after in boost then diverter valve recirculates air.  I relocated the inlet of the recirculation of the diverter valve 3-4" closer to the turbo inlet away from the maf to try to eliminate possible turbulence from the air. Will test drive again after rain stops.

Found a fix for this issue thanks to user rogerius .   changed KFMRES and KFMRESK (KFMRESNL if equipped on your version) closer to stock values (3.414)and that took care of the stalling.
