Title: VW Golf iV search for the unknown.
Post by: wesselh93 on August 20, 2018, 09:35:12 AM
Hi guys,

Currently I'm busy with an ECU from a VW Golf mk4, since the car is over 15 years old now people in my area are starting to use this car for dirt track racing (no demolition).
I have had some IMMO off request simple soldering and read/write operation.
But correcting or improving the actual maps of this cars is something different.
Since programming over OBD still isn't possible in this ecu's you have to desolder the flash (AM29F200AB or BB)

Since there is not really al lot on this ECU's online I've had a lot to search for and test.
I even found a post on this very forum of how to decode and WHY is has to be decoded.
Decoding has to do with the lanes to the Processor.

My question is: Can anybody assist me in finding NMAX for this ECU.
I DO NOT REQUEST A HAND OUT SOLUTION, I would like to learn where and how to search for it.

Attached the decoded original read.
Car: Golf mk4
Engine 1.6l 8v
Code: AKL
ECU: 06A 906019AK
5WP4 417 04

Hi guys,

A little update from my side, I think I found the correct address. I only think it's a little on the low side.
I don't have the actual RPM limit so I cant check.

But the following showed up:

Address 08400 should result in hex: C0 --> dec: 192 (factor 30 + eeprom = 5760 RPM

Could someone confirm I'm on the right track?

look in the community projects area. the ecu you have has already been extensively defined and  has a stage 1 and 2 file and full definitions( including nmax obv) and many many more.
