Title: 2001 vw Jetta me7.5 pin out
Post by: birchbark506 on October 20, 2018, 04:32:09 AM
I am trying to read this ecu on the bench, but the bench harness I have isnt powering up the ECU when I have 12volts hocked up

Ecu is a med7.5 out of a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L non turbo

Maybe it's hocked up wrong? Check voltage @ the connector?

You mean at the ecu side or odb?

Common sense would say to check for voltage at the last point before whatever you're using connects to the ecu.

Wait instead, lets ask if bench harness works on other ecus?

You cant read ecu without immo off. If you open ecu and do "immo off" you can read and write via obd on the table. Only way without modifing eeprom is read bin in bootmode. Ecu on table should taking ~0.2A of current. Check connections... you should have chance to connect with ecu by VCDS. You must connect ignition signal to +12.

i have power to all 3 power pins and ground to the ground pin,  ecu will no connect with vcds or odis is there something i am missing
i added picture of what i used to wire it up,
i tried mpps v13
and cmd flash to connected with no luck

ecu side
12 volts at pin 3,21,62
ground at pin 1,2
and k-line is pin 43

obd side i have
ground pin 4
k-line pin 7
pin 16 12 volts

Found the issus my k-line wire came unhocked under the tape

And mpps is reading on the bench with out issus now

Is this ecu eeprom desoilder only to immo off?

In ecu is eeprom memory. You must reprogram it by external programmer to immo off.

Another solution is reading it in bootmode without desoldering memory...

Would mpps read when it's in boot mode? I'll also check that link out. Thank you

Use galetto 1260 for bootmode and a modified ftdi cable (edited serial number) ground bootpin with resistor for 8-10 seconds then read/write

I dont have a ftdi cable I'll have to order a cheap one, I only have mpps v13 and cmdflash-obd and the real ross tech cable and the real vas 6164 odis end
