Title: ecu cloning
Post by: nmd on February 04, 2019, 03:21:37 AM
Hi

I found some info but not all so that's why I asking!

Was trying to put in another ecu in my car. Would like to have my original ecu in case of a misshapps.

I have me7.5 ecu bosch nr 0261208500. And when I changed the ecu and car would not start..due to immo. Spare and org ecu have the same boschnumber.

But i have used nefmoto software to get a bin file on my original ecu over obd2. But is there any difference if i get a bin file with obd2 or on a bench in boot-mode with a galletto (Chinese knockoff)?
Is there any differences..  Will I get the same info from bench flash or over obd2?

When in bootmode on the spare ecu. To flash my original bin file. Will that overwrite the immo protection  so that it would be a perfect clone. And I could have some fun and test different setting without be afraid to brick my original ecu.

I do this because i would like to skip the step with vcds to adopt the ecu.

The car is Audi A4 avant quatto 1.8ts -04  ...B6

EEPROM needs read, not flash.

aha.... now I get it... Thanks!!

One word can help so much ....  Thanks!

Tested the me7eeprom v1.40 and 1.31 and got some errors..  I have a dumb generic  kkl cable... will order a galletto knockoff but it take 1½week  to get it.

This was over the ODB read. But it fails....

Errors are :

Me7-eeprom>ME7EEPROM.exe --OBD -r -p 3 audi.bin
ME7_EEPROM v1.40
COM: 3, Baud Rate: 10400
Opening COM3 ... OK
Initiating communication ... FAIL. (error=0x50101)
Closing COM3

Me7-eeprom>ME7_95040.exe --OBD -r -p 3 audi.bin
Ver: 1.31
Com Port: 3
Baud Rate: 10400
Opening COM3 ... OK
Initiating communication ... FAIL. (error=0x01)
Closing COM3

I must write it in bootmode on spare ecu so maybe I should try to read in bootmode to.

--OBD will not work from my experience

This whole topic is useless if you would have started by reading the stickies and existing threads about cloning, me7eeprom tool and so on

you are correct
you cannot write the eeprom via obd you can only read it
reading by --OBD is a hit or miss
best bet is to read and write via bootmode

Noticed this too.  Not sure if a bug, but it used to work great and now it doesn't.  Weird.

Having some trouble getting my spare ecu in bootmode. Does this ecu req 10kohm solution is this 1k ohm solution????

ecu number is a secret  ::)

Sorry... Hoped  the bosch number would be sufficient.

 But vag number  is 8E0909518AS.

Croped the original photo.  Here you can see the numbers on the cpu

hi guy, use "eeprom tools" from the set of VisualME7_Logger to transfer immo data and wines numbers from your unit to the one you bought

Are you using a resistor to close the contact to ground? In this case, if I'm not mistaken no difference at 10 kOhm or 1kOhm

totally agree with you
