So I'm in need of some help, as I am not anywhere near as knowledgeable as others here.

Basically, I have an 1.8T AUM Mk4 Golf that is remapped, It has a lower rev limiter when static etc. The ecu has had problems in the past and I had to have it repaired but is having more problems.

After checking the ECU I have a part number of 8E0 909 557 A which appears to be for a 2.0 Audi A4? The new ECU I have is IMMO off and has a part number of 06A 906 032 HJ which is for a 2001 Golf 1.8t AUM. Will there be any probems trying to remove the map from the A4 ECU too the Golf ECU? Does one have more parameters / capabilities or anything that the other doesn't or are all ME7.5 ECUS tunes interchangeable?

This is a DIY tuning site, not a copy tunes site.. just a friendly heads up.

All I meant was I want to save the Tune that I have been using in my car for the last two years and whether I can move it between those two ECUs? Not sure where else too ask about Tranferring Tuned Info

I'm not sure what is on the 2.0t ECU that you want to keep, or why you would want to use that ecu (or tune) in your 1.8.

I Have had this ECU in the car when I got it, I then got it remapped, all has been fine.

Had ecu problems after two, years, went to replace it and noticed the part number doesn't relate to a golf 1.8t AUM, after looking on google, its seems as if i had a A4 ecu all along? part number at the top...

so what i am asking is, Now i have a ecu thats actually for a 1.8t aum, am i going to have trouble moving the file over?

You can't yust copy flash as far as i know. But you can try it and post results on forum  ::)

There are several reasons why you might not be able to copy the file over (not least of which is hardware compatibility issues), especially if the tuner doesn't expect to let you copy the tune over...

yes I did wonder whether the tuner would perhaps make it difficult to copy the file. Looks like I need to find another 557A ecu perhaps although its not for my car

Guys it's goddamn ME7, you can clone the ECU by simply moving flash and the eeprom chips over physically.
Or you can do it through software in boot.
1.8T and 2.0 are the same ecu hardware wise, just make sure both have 29F800 flash.

But tbh, if you have no experience with it, send the two ecu's to someone who does and let them clone it.

Thanks for the info, Ill be glad to keep my map and not have to start all over again on that front. I am a novice, but willing to learn, however.. how do I know whether both are  29F800 flash?

You can open ECU and see what chip it is inside. This chip with sticker is what you looking for https://s4wiki.com/wiki/Boot_mode
You must remove sticker and then you can read is it 400 or 800 BB/BT

Soo you say I can load any 1.8T 800BB .bin file in my ATW ecu and car will work normaly?

Flash and EEPROM have to match.

It's more hassle than it's worth, these ECUs are £20.
