Title: Bricked ECU, Bench flashed ok, now car wont start.
Post by: fletchUK on February 29, 2012, 06:02:58 PM
Hey all
I recently changed my car to a A4 1.8T S-LINE 190bhp (stock) i tried flashing the ecu via OBD with galletto and a tuned file and the ecu got bricked and i couldnt do anything with it- read/write nothing.

ECU DETAILS

0261208285
1037368075
Flash:29F800BT

.1.8L R4/5VT     G
.8E0909518AN 0002.

So i removed ecu and bench (bootmode) flashed with galletto (stock file which i backed up before messing) this seemed to of worked ok but the car still wont start and VagCom is showing the below DTC

Control Module Part Number: 8E0 909 518 AN
  Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT     G   0002
           Software Coding: 0011511
            Work Shop Code: WSC 00953
1 Fault Found:
18089 - Control Module Programming Not Finished
        P1681 - 008 - Implausible Signal

OBD galletto flashing works fine now but still get the above DTC? anyone know how to get around this problem? ive read other similar posts on here but nothing seems to help?

Any help i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
Col

It sounds like maybe the tune you were trying to flash is not compatible? I'm just guessing, sorry can't help more...

I think there is an issue somewhere with flashing 1.8T stuff...

well well well.... galletto has been sacked and is in the bin piece of sh*t.

i used Nefmoto software which found one of the sectors on the chip corrupt which it succesfully erased and flashed and the car started first time, no DTC's.

I didnt know Nef software was a lot more advanced than galletto, my number 1 software for future flash's:)

thanks all
Col

I do remember reading somewhere that galletto did this, I wouldn't throw it away though. It's good for bringing back ECU from the dead, aka bricked.

Write errors can be caused by low/shitty volts while programming.

What kinda bench harness do you have?
