Title: Flash 8N0906018S bin onto a 8N0906018C but won't start
Post by: TewSlo on May 31, 2019, 03:28:44 PM
Greetings,

Correct me if I'm stupid. Got a notification on my phone for a 8N0906018C (512kb flash) for $25 on eBay. Of course I bought it. My car is a 8N0906018S (512kb flash). So, I plugged this bad larry into my car and flashed a bin I ripped off of my current working ECU. Flash is successful but the car simply will not start (turns over will not fire). It's a 2000 Quattro 180 so it utilizes IMMO I. The ECU currently in the car was also purchased from eBay (a 8N0906018S) and was literally plug and play without issue or VCDS needed for it to start. The ECU boards look the same, so what is it that would keep me from utilizing this as a backup ECU?

Thanks in advance!

Of course! (Edit: Well, now that I think about it the ME7Check program is probably correcting checksums for the 018S. Would the 018C have different checksums? If so, how would I fix this?)

read the error code in the engine ecu and the dashboard to make sure that the code is missing. What was the program flashing?

Using Nefmoto and verified checksums, my 018S ECU works fine with this method. There is not codes populating other than ECU voltage which i typically clear, happens every time I swap ECU

ME7Check does not correct checksums.
