Title: Mapping M3.83 ECU
Post by: wlsmith1985 on July 24, 2019, 02:23:52 PM
Evening guys. I am new to this but have been doing quite a bit of reading. I have a stage 1 map file i am trying to flash to my ecu m3.83 06A906018CG with a stage 1 file software version 352127. I have mpps 13.02 and the 3.83 to 5.92 adapter cable but from my understanding i need to bridge pins 13 and 16 on the obd male connector to get a 12v to pin 43 on the ecu so i can write to it. I thought it would do it automatically with the adapter cable to flash via OBD but i get message saying ECU Programming Voltage Missing. Ive searched everywhere for a way to do this and am looking for some guidance. Back in the day when i had MR2s i used to bridge pins using a paperclip is this possible in this case? Whats the method to get them bridged? Car is a mk2 golf with AGU conversion btw

Hi. I do not know what do you refer as an "3.83 to 5.92 adapter cable", because both ECUs families has almost the same pinouts. Diagnostic and Programming pinout are the same. Inclusive MPPS interface does not have any relay/solid state switch to energize the programming pin to +12V, you need to do it manually. Finally the best checking procedure is bridge pins 13 and 16 in OBD2 using a fused switch for protection and check that 43 pin in ECU is receiving that +12v signal. Normally VW have populated 13pin in OBD2 port but many Audis not, check which wiring harness you used to do your engine conversion.

Thanks for your reply.

This is the adapter cable I refer to. It states it has high quality connectors that supply the ecu with the necessary voltages to flash it via obd
https://chiptuningshop.com/product/mpps-vag-obd-m3-8-3-m5-9-2-adaptor/ this plugs into the MPPS adapter and then the red end of the cable goes into the OBD port of the car
The message I am getting when its plugged in is "ECU Programming Voltage Missing". From my understanding this cable should provide it with the 12v to write without any modifications or bridging pins?

The loom for the engine conversion is the standard MK4 Golf Loom

Ok then just check if with M383/M592 adapter connected to OBD2 port you have +12V at pin #43 in ECU.
