Title: New England assistance Post by: golfputtputt on August 12, 2019, 03:55:51 PM Not really sure where to post this where anyone will pay attention to it.
I’m looking to meet up with anyone will to give some advice about a set of issues that i have been completely unable to solve going on one full year. Anyone here located in the New England/upstate NY area or can recommend a reputable tuner WILLING TO WORK WITH ME. Not looking for someone to tune my car, take my money and tell me to pound sand. Will pay for their time. Hey sorry, I’m dealing with some idle oscillation that will begin to hunt, then straighten out, then begin again at irregular intervals. Load, AFR, lambda corrections and rpm oscillate in time and ign timing oscillates inversely. Ign timing is also all over the place, 9 - 20 deg range-Ish. I’m going to be pressure and vacuum testing lines (for the 3rd time), just did a TB adaptation, have to diagnose my crank pos sensor to make sure thats good. Idle is 760 still (1.9 overbored 2860rs) going to make sure ign maps are similar/the same in idle areas. I’ve raised KFMRES/K which made the car easier to operate so i kept it, it didnt get rid of my issue. I 100’ed DARO (ARMD) to just see what kind of influence that torque intervention pathway is having. Car runs really really good so i will need to address that eventually, but it did not solve my issue. Neutralized LAKH module, again, ran better, did not solve. Looking back at old logs from 2016 (mods: filter, catless, no emissions equipment) this issue was still occurring, so it followed the car all the way through a full engine build. I can post logs later but it’d really be a lot easier to meet up and talk with someone in person about this. Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: dilly on August 27, 2019, 12:16:58 AM any codes? post logs and scan data so others can chime in. talking in person is not better than looking at visual data of what the engine is doing
Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: golfputtputt on September 08, 2019, 08:37:42 PM Here is the most recent complete log at idle.
The oscillation at idle is cyclical and after it warms up, it seem much more random. Other things like corrections are all over the place. I recently did a leak test up to 25 psi, fixed some leaks and now it holds 25 constantly. I swapped mafs, unplugged mafs, swapped crank pos sensors, cam pos sensors, injectors, n75's, almost every sensor. I'm not really sure where to look for this. Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: nyet on September 08, 2019, 08:51:54 PM Can you walk through exactly what is not stock on your build again?

particularly intake and fuel. You wont' be able to make full power in the interim but it may help narrow down the problem. Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: golfputtputt on September 08, 2019, 09:09:27 PM Fuel, yes, easily.
Intake would take a month or two of time to restore as a lot of the oem parts have been discarded and there is a top mounted turbocharger in the way of the oem pressure pipe. Possible, but I'd prefer not to. attached is the oldest recorded data I have on the car. Its not as concise but it has recorded idle and the more random nature of the oscillation is still occurring. So I put in the 550's out of curiosity and moved KRKTE and TVUB to my old programmed values KRKTE: .06149400 TVUB: 2.619, 1.459, 1.040, .651, .443 And the highly cyclical oscillation on warmup disappeared. Progress. In the future, I'm going to see if I can mess with TVUB, TVTSPEV, FRLFSDP and FKKVS with the FIC 656cc's. If I can't get it to run smoother, I'll contact FIC and say whatsup. Those injectors were specifically advertised as being useable in the 5VT 1.8T engines. Perhaps it's spray pattern, perhaps it's my values. My bigger question is: The 656cc's and the 550cc's, once warmed up, run the same. Is this the best idle I can get? fr_w and frm_w are all over the place.... Could anyone post a .csv of a silky smooth idle? Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: nyet on September 09, 2019, 06:27:14 PM Warmup is going to be wallwetting. Those injectors probably spray more walls than down the intake ports.

So fixing an oscillation would be a combo of getting VAKL/BAKL just right or WFRL itself? Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: nyet on September 09, 2019, 08:55:54 PM KFFWL
you have a ton of changes to a lot of maps that aren't needed. I'd start reverting a lot of those back to stock one by one unless you know for a fact you need them. Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: vwaudiguy on September 09, 2019, 09:45:40 PM you have a ton of changes to a lot of maps that aren't needed. This. Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: golfputtputt on September 10, 2019, 06:01:44 AM KFFWL you have a ton of changes to a lot of maps that aren't needed. I'd start reverting a lot of those back to stock one by one unless you know for a fact you need them. That was the intention. Stuff like ARMD and LAKH were neutralized to attempt to rule out their influence on the idle quality. Idle when warmed up was still +-40ish rpm (still is). Is it possible to get a +-10 or less rpm? Or am i asking for too much from the control? Title: Re: New England assistance Post by: golfputtputt on September 11, 2019, 06:32:24 AM Also, if you look at the data log, it appears at idle, load and rpm are oscillating inversely. When rpm goes down, load goes up and vice versa. Why does that occur??
