Title: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: Dooba on September 27, 2019, 07:56:15 AM Hello.
Had a bad luck today when tried to flash 2013 A6 3.0TFSI 228kw with CMD. Dont know if ECU been flashed previously, did read from CMD server. Tried to write tuned file when at the end of writing cmd showed "void11" and then "OK". Engine does not start, fans spinning full speed, other modules have no communication with ECU, cant do "back to stock" or write original file. KTAG does not have any solution for this ecu. Anyone had same issues with simos 8.5. I believe there is no hope to recover this ecu, so question is what equipment and works required to adapt other ecu? What could cause this problem and how to escape this next time? Thanks. Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: sonique on September 27, 2019, 08:18:29 AM try flash sgo file with odis/vass or vcp
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: Dooba on September 27, 2019, 10:25:47 AM forgot to mention. Vcp cant connect to ecu. But good idea :)
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: IamwhoIam on September 27, 2019, 12:27:53 PM ktag should be able to boot it and recover.
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: Dooba on September 27, 2019, 01:46:31 PM KTAG does not support simos 8.51
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: prj on September 27, 2019, 02:41:48 PM Adapt other ECU is easy with GEKO subscription.
But why are you so sure that K-Tag does not support it? Did you ask support? SSM should be the same on all of them. Is the PCB different and there is no pinout? Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: IamwhoIam on September 27, 2019, 03:00:41 PM I think he means *cough* clone ktag
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: cherry on September 27, 2019, 03:56:53 PM Alientech does not support Simos8.5 And for all supported Simos8.x you need to patch with ktag and write with kess, no obd patch protocoll...

Yes it does. Also Simos 8.5 is supported by obd since forever. GTFO with your clone tools. Protocol 50 in new trasdata. Which is the same as ktag with a different interface. I have personally used it many times. Sounds to me like OP has clone too. Sounds to me like OP has clone too. You are wrong, i´m not talking about clone tools. Check latest ksuite and see that you are wrong...! Choose exactly 2013 A6 3.0tfsi and see there is only transmission listed. You can search thru complete ecu list, there is no Simos8.5 and also no OBD protocoll. Btw, Dimsport is not the same as Alientech anymore! Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: _nameless on September 28, 2019, 05:02:03 AM You are wrong, i´m not talking about clone tools. Love it when prj goes hard then gets shutdown by someone else who knows more on the topic :D :D Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: cherry on September 28, 2019, 05:28:30 AM I dont know more about, i just take a look to my ori ksuite before i shout some things. I was curious if there is really a SSM protocoll for Simos8.x because i also checked my autotuner and didnt find such protocoll. Maybe Dimsport does have it, i dont know, the carlists dont tell me exactly. Sure Dimsport has (more) updates earlier then Alientech, also medc17 updates comes much earlier. Also it seems bflash does not have such option for simos8. Simos are always a little bit more "special" then Bosch.
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: prj on September 28, 2019, 11:12:35 AM I have Dimsport New Genius and Trasdata.
When SSM was first released it came at exactly the same time to both. The hardware between K-Tag and Trasdata is identical. New Genius and Kess are identical too, except Kess lacks the display and has Windows UI instead. Maybe there are some release schedule differences - I don't know. I've personally used Trasdata many times with Simos 8.5. Either way protocol is the same for all Simos in new Trasdata, i'd guess K-Tag will work with 8.5 too if you hook it up right. Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: prj on September 28, 2019, 11:17:25 AM 8.51. it differs I don't think so. Here is 8.5 straight from the New Trasdata manual. There is really no ssm protocol for Simos8 SSM in Ktag, only ssm for Simos12, 18 and PCR2.1. Simos 12 and 18 are different processor. And i think even if it could work with PCR2.1 Ktag will abort because of wrong partnumber. It´s some kind of idiot tool where nothing is working generic... Update from Dimsport came about 07/2018, not sure if Ktag and Trasdata was still same development. Anyway threadstarter can ask any Trasdata user for help now... Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: prj on September 29, 2019, 04:45:49 AM is it posible to adopt used ECU or i need virgin? Yes of course it is possible, if you have ECU with same part number.Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: ktm733 on September 29, 2019, 10:53:08 AM What I’m getting from this thread is there is no saving a simos 8.5 ecu if you brick it. Only replacement is only option. Just to add to the forum magpro x17 doesn’t support bootmode nor does the flex.
Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: IamwhoIam on September 29, 2019, 12:18:14 PM Trasdata supports it 100%. Shame alienshits divorced from dumbsport only after it got added to trasdata :D

No problem for those of us with proper tools tho... Tools which does not support it in the moment: Ktag, Autotuner, Bflash, CMD, BSL100, ... Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: prj on September 30, 2019, 01:12:54 PM bFlash can probably add support for it if you ask nicely.
IIRC it was planned or beta protocol was available... last I used it was to add mapswitching because it supports making modifications in code over OBD. I don't know what is special about 8.x. The password read through sboot is probably the same/similar for all of them, and after that it's standard TriCore boot. Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: ktm733 on September 30, 2019, 10:08:47 PM Lmao, Nice flex. You probably needed it tho Thank you for informing us who has the proper tool. Looks like we know where to get it now, and solve the issue. Rep 1+ for a solution Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: Aurélien on October 05, 2019, 05:03:30 AM bFlash can probably add support for it if you ask nicely. Title: Re: Simos 8.51 bricked Post by: ecuprogram on June 08, 2020, 05:13:41 PM Did you find a solution for this? I bricked Simos 8.51 using CMD exactly same as the Post#1. I have original KTAG and it is supported with simos 8.5 (not sure simos 8.51 is different)..... Did you end buying a new ecu?
