Title: IMMO3 ECU swap Post by: mogren82 on March 27, 2012, 08:46:31 AM Hi guys,
I will swap the ECU in my (Euro) A4 -03 1.8Tq (BFB engine 120kw) to a ECU from a BEX engine (140kw), both ME7.5. I have been using a USB-UPA kit to read the data in the ST95040 immo. chips, but I am a little bit unsure what to edit to make the ECU work? ST95040 from my ECU: (http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/6001/bfbt.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/594/bfbt.jpg/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us) ST95040 from new ECU: (http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/5901/bexh.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/96/bexh.jpg/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us) Tried to copy all data in ST95040 from current ECU to the new but it generated a fault code: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail! Control Module Part Number: 8E0 909 518 AS HW: 8E0 909 018 A Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0003 Software Coding: 0011701 Work Shop Code: WSC 63351 000 00000 VCID: 810D0137A199 1 Fault Found: 17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer P1570 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded Readiness: 0110 1101 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any ideas or help would be very appreciated! I apologize for my bad English... ;-) //Andreas Title: Re: IMMO3 ECU swap Post by: bazaa on March 27, 2012, 09:36:59 AM you read both immo's from the ecu's so you could of used vcds to login, to replacement ecu and change it to your car as here.
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_III_ECU_Swapping your original code is 05406 Bex ecu code was 01379 if you try to log in to the bex ecu you will probably find it will be your original ecu code ,log in with vcds and go through as if renewing your ecu and it will correct the checksum. Hope this helps Bazaa Title: Re: IMMO3 ECU swap Post by: mogren82 on March 27, 2012, 12:38:14 PM Thanks for the info, will give it a try tomorrow :)
Edit: Which bytes contains the pin code? Title: Re: IMMO3 ECU swap Post by: bazaa on March 27, 2012, 01:20:05 PM They are at 0x32 and 0x33, you need to swap hex bytes, so format is 1E 15 on original ecu change around to 151E , convert to decimal then add 0 to front

What to do?

might be worth reading the 95040 again and compairing with your original just to check for any corruption ,then try reflashing it again. Title: Re: IMMO3 ECU swap Post by: mogren82 on March 28, 2012, 01:24:37 PM I did resolder and read the chip in the USB-UPA ebay-kit.
However i did give the immo defeat a try and now the car is running. Thanks for the help!! :) Title: Re: IMMO3 ECU swap Post by: Racingbeat on August 13, 2012, 11:24:18 PM Ive found this post very useful, thank you Bazaa ;)
