Title: 29F800TA vs 29F800BB
Post by: prj on April 09, 2012, 06:18:02 PM
So, I tried to flash my RS4 and ECU got bricked at 99%. Used MPPS, never had problems before.
Took ECU out of car, put it on bench, flashed in boot mode fine.

It has been chipped before, using plain old soldering method...
And the chip inside is a 29F800TA from fujitsu. I am thinking it should be an AMD29F800BB.

I see the T and B stand for the layout of the chip. Would that cause it to fail flashing over OBD? As it probably is erasing a bigger sector than it thinks, thus bricking itself?
I guess I need to source a 29F800BB chip, remove the 29F800TA, fit the 29F800BB and I can flash in-car?

Anyone want to just say "yes" ? :D

Thanks, ordered some 29F800BB-SI (didn't find SE), will remove this sh*t once they get here.

Just to give this thread closure.

I removed the 29F800TA, fitted the 29F800BB and everything works as it should.
